This was on an olde time stove at a house we looked at. I can't remember where.
In terms of crafting, I'm working on a sweater, this one. I've been working on it since August of 2006 - not constantly working on it, I actually hadn't touched it about 6 months. I also want to make a quilt - this is where you laugh because I don't actually know how to sew. Okay, this isn't entirely true, I can sew, I'm just not very good at it. I have a couple questions for you - what are your favorite winter sprucing projects? Do any of you know of any knitting groups in the area? Any sewing groups? When I lived in Philadelphia, I was part of a knitting group that met monthly and it was really fun to meet new people and learn new techniques from them - and it was fun sharing projects. Hi there,
I think there is a knitting group and a quilting group that both meet at The Fly once a month.
I keep telling myself I'd like to learn how to knit but time continues to pass and I still have yet to join a group:-)
I'd love to find a knitting/crochet group. I'd rather crochet, two needles are too much for my uncoordinated left hand. I have a two quilts in progress, although I haven't worked on either one in quite some time.
For my house, right now I am in the process of clearing/cleaning out all my cabinets in the kitchen. Replacing worn equipment, donating what I don't use, touching up paint, etc. I have a tiny little bedroom I am turning into a HUGE closet and craft space. I just ripped up the carpet and will be putting down flooring during spring break.
"I have a tiny little bedroom I am turning into a HUGE closet and craft space."
I did that with our dining room. It's the only room we've painted since moving in - I made my husband paint it one weekend and he said he's never painting again.
In addition to the Fly,check with the Knit Kit on North Main Street.
(It's in the yellow house with the red roof close to the Christian bookstore.)
Frances Farrar,Janet Cavna and others can introduce you to the creative folk in the area.
If you still need to find people after this is read, put up some flyers at the Knit Kit,the Fly,the library,Wal-Mart 's craft and fabric department and any other places you can think of.
Don't forget about Wartrace,Bell Buckle and Tullahoma,either.
Look online for local area interest groups.
I envy you your adventure.
I have no needlework skills and haven't touched other crafts in years.
Another family member is the hobby addict.
So far, every room in the house is a craft space.
I haven't seen much of our walls or floors since we moved in.
If I ever do become as artistic as I'd like,we'd have to move to someplace a little bigger-like the old Office Max.
