Old Photographs

A friend of mine posted a link in her blog to the Library of Congress flickr page. It's so cool! I guess they're scanning in a bunch of their images to share with people. I spent way too much going through all of the color photographs. I'm about to start on the black and white ones.
I really like old photographs of people. I often buy them, put them in frames and mix them in with the framed photos of my family and friends. In fact, above our fireplace, there are two 8x10 framed wedding pictures - one is of my husband and me, the other I found in a Canadian thrift store (which is kind of sad, really). I haven't found very many good ones since moving here, because I don't want to pay a lot for them - I sometimes use them in art projects, too.
As I was looking at the pictures from the Library of Congress flickr page, I thought maybe it would be fun to print out some of them. I really like her and this guy is great! Olde tyme boxers are always fun.
Anyway, there are a bunch that were taken in Chattanooga and in Nashville - mostly of women working in factories during WWII. I love looking at all the details of the uniforms, and of how they all seemingly had perfect hair, make up and nails! |
