Jeremy and I arrived in Berlin this morning - we took an overnight train from Paris. Despite what you may have seen in the movies, it was not in the least glamourous. In fact it was totally awful, but that might be because we were on the second bunks(the train cars have three bunks, but because we bought first class tickets, ours only had two bunks, thankfully). We're waiting for our room to open up at the hostel before going out and doing a bit of sightseeing - though I think we're both too tired to do much this afternoon.
Paris was fun, though. We were staying with a friend of Jeremy's who was super nice. We visited the Eiffel Tower and went all the way up to the top floor - it made me super ill as I'm afraid of heights. We also visited the Bon Marche, and the super market next door which was heaven for foodies. We went to some yarn stores - which I'm sure Jeremy did not enjoy. We also visited a bunch of churches - including the one where they make medalions, you know the kind I'm talking about - the kind that all Catholic grandmothers give their grandchildren.
We went to a bunch of other places, too, but I'll update properly - with pictures when I get back. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Wie gehts? Hope you get some R&R along with your culture. Deutschland ist wunderbar!
Glad you are having so much fun. Can't wait to hear 'bout the "strang stores" in the world's cultural center.
Remind me to tell you the "strang" story after your return and rest.
Deutchland is incredibly *civilized*.
Everything is scrupulously neat and clean.
Kids and animals could nap in the middle of residential streets.
Buildings that are over a thousand years old remain in use and look like places here that have been around a half century.
A half hour walk could take one from a cozy cul-de sac to a bustling steel and concrete metropolis with a dense forest in between.
People do a lot of walking and often use public transportation.
The motorway known as the Autobahn has lanes going both ways devided by sturdy concrete barriers.
Everyone goes about eighty but there are no upper speed limits.
Do not hold back on trying the food.
It is all incredibly fresh and well-prepared.
The currants and strawberries alone will be worth your trip (not to mention the CHOCOLATE!)
Gute Reise! Bis bald!
(Have a safe journey, see you soon)
My girlfriend moved to Paris Aug. 2004 and has just moved back...I remember having to go buy her ice trays and had to send them to her...and she said that they had no air condition there and everyone hung their clothes outside...How everyone drunk wine there and it was no big thing to have wine at lunch time...She sent me alot of wonderful post cards from there..How it was so much cheaper to take your pet to the vet and go to the doctor...But her money from here was not as much there...Have a safe trip back...
