Not an exciting post, but it's full of pictures

I've been so wrapped up with work and school this semester that I have barely posted at all - I have been reading everyone else's posts though, as, well, I'm nosy, and I like to keep track of what's going on in my town.

I thought rather than bore you with details of my paper or of what's been going down at work (which other than Marjane Satrapi coming to speak, it hasn't been anything super exciting), that I would post some pictures that I've taken recently.

Marks fitzgerald furniture

I took this in Huntsville. My husband and I drove down there on Friday, which was a bad idea thanks to the bad weather - but we really liked what we saw of the city. We're planning on going back later this spring.

backyard friend

Also on Friday, in the morning, this bird was visiting in my yard. As I've mentioned, I have two dogs - neither one noticed the bird. I have no idea what kind of bird it was, except that it was really big and could fly. Maybe it was a turkey? but I thought turkeys were rounder.

quilt started

I started, and almost finished, a quilt this weekend. I'm making it for one of my aunts who is ill. My hope is that the bright colors will be a mood lifter for her. And yes, that is a Hello Kitty sewing machine.

new fabric

One of the best parts about spring is new fabrics for spring. I'm thinking of trying to make skirts for my twin neices out of that blue fruit fabric - I think it would be super cute.

And since no post from me would complete without pictures of my dogs, here are a couple I've taken recently that have made me laugh -

Miss Josephine in her headscarf

For some reason, I love putting scarves on her head. Maybe it's because she doesn't try to take them off. Maybe it's because she looks so silly.

Instead of posting a picture of Hartley, I thought I would post a picture of one of my cats, Lord Alfred Douglas:

Bosie

We usually call him Bosie, like the real Lord Alfred Douglas' nickname. Unfortunately, Bosie Catt is just as much of a bossy as the real Bosie. Next time, I will find a nicer person to name my pets after...

Anyway, there's been some other things - our garden is started. I caught one of our other cats, Myra Ellen, trying to eat the cilantro that I had started. It's prompted us to watch her more closely - she's the same cat that once ate an aloe plant, so we know that she loves most plants (she's also the reason why we don't have any houseplants).

Definitely a turkey

I was trying to delude myself that it was a lady peacock, but my husband wasn't so convinced. I guess he was right.

Glad you blogged. I always like to hear/see your creativeness. It inspires me to get crackin' on my scrappin'. That looks like a BIG kitty and a sweet doggie you have there.

My mom's name was Myra Helen. Thats pretty close! ha.

If you are coming to the garden meeting Saturday, I will pot up some catnip for Bosie and Myra Ellen.

Once it has gone one season in your yard, you will probably have it for years to come.

We have never had them go for cilantro but I will try to remember to pick some to see what happens.

mmp84 - Thanks for the compliments on the crafting. That is funny about your mom's name being so close to my cat's name - my Myra Ellen is actually named for Tori Amos (Tori's her stage name and Myra Ellen is her real name). Bosie is a very large cat, I think he's over 20 pounds now. Miss Josephine is actually from Bedford County Animal Control, whoever decided they no longer wanted her made us get lucky, she's a really nice and sweet dog.

Steve - We weren't sure if we were going tom come by this Saturday or not, our whole social lives of late have revoloved around my paper and how far I've gotten in writing it. I got catnip for the cats (we actually have 3) once and none of them even touched it. It was weird. I ended up swapping it out with 'cat grass' which just made them all sick - my cats are weird. I think they prefer aloe plants and yarn.

Lesa - Thank you, I love that I finally have a dog that's willing to model for me. Hartley, our other dog, rarely sits still long enough for a photo shoot. I let my husband know that he was right in thinking it was a turkey - I didn't realize that turkeys can fly really high and really far. I guess I still have a lot to learn about living in the country.
