Earlier this year I wrote about the passing of one of my favorite women on tv, unfortunately as I logged on to check my email tonight - I saw that my favorite tv actress has died. Bea Arthur was my favorite Golden Girl. I loved her on Maude, which I watched in reruns on tv land a few years back (but that I sort of remembered from when I was little - I remember my mom watching it). I think her characters have always been a role model for what I think of as funny - much more so than Lucy or the more popular funny women of television.
It makes me sad that a lot of my role models from when I was little are dying. At least Betty and Rue are still okay. Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

If she had married Sting, would she be referred to as Bea Sting? That's been on my mind half the morning...
Yeah, I liked her on both shows. I remember Maude as a child and liked it even though it was WAY over my head. I'm sad she's gone. Long live the Golden Girls!
She was definitely my role model - a tough, funny woman who taught us how to stand up for ourselves.
The Golden Girls have gotten me through some very rough times in the past two years. I have all the episodes on DVD. Whenever I felt down, I could pop in one of those DVDs, and no matter how bad I felt, I could count on a smile because of that show. Bea Arthur was wonderful, and I hate that she's gone.
