It's been way too hot out to knit - I can't even imagine wearing a sweater or scarf when it's this warm out, let alone knit one. I've also decided to take a slight break from sewing - this comes after sewing a twin sized quilt top for one of my aunts in about a week (thank goodness for sewing machines!).
I've turned back to embroidery for the time being, as I can do it on the couch watching tv and I can bring it with me when I go places. Here are a couple of recently finished pieces, I'm thinking of making a bunch of embroidered squares and making a quilt out of them. I got this image from a clip art website. I'm thinking of filling in her hair a bit. This is a pre-stretched canvas that I painted and then embroidered the birds and sewed on the buttons. Yes, it was hard on my fingers sewing through the canvas. I'm okay with how this turned out, but I have some ideas for some other similar pieces that I think might turn out better. This is an aeolipile. I have a friend that is, for some reason, obsessed with them so I made him this dish towel with one embroidered on it. More tea towels. I love how the bread one came out. For a friends baby. This is supposed to be Dom Delouise as Captain Chaos from the Cannonball Run movies, but I don't know if that comes through or not. Well, that's what I've been working on. Perhaps your friend is a reader of McSweeney's (mcsweeneys.net), which has that gadget as part of its page header.
It is isn't it? I forgot about that. My friend once told me he was flipping through the dictionary and saw a drawing for an aeolipile and thought it was the coolest looking thing he'd seen.
Very good! I learned in girl scouts how to embroidery. I don't know if could do it now, though.
mmp84 - I was a girl scout, too! Thanks. I actually learned from a book and watching videos on you tube.
