Move over hexagons, it's embroidery time!

I've put aside the hexagons and the quilt in the making for the time being to work on an embroidered gift for a friend of mine's birthday. I made her a set of embroidered tea towels (and a purse, but I didn't photograph that yet).

I thought I'd share some of the pictures, since I think they're really cute. The patterns for the embroidery are all from the same place, Sublime Stitching.

I love her! I added the "R" in the apron, because my friend's name begins with an R. I love how she came out!

This guy is a dancing fool.

This is the other guy's friend, not in a gay way, they're just friends...

close up, dancer

This is a close up on the second dancer's hair - it's made with french knots. I've been trying to figure out the secret to french knots for YEARS and all of a sudden (and 10 youtube video clips later) it just clicked. Now I want to put french knots on literally everything. Also, note how I messed up the guy's nose and made it look kind of Michael Jackson-y.

This final picture is something I am working on for me. It's also from the Sublime Stitching website and it's a tote bag with a pre-printed image for embroidering. My husband was at a conference last weekend, so I spent my time playing with the dogs and working on this. I just finished it last night but have not yet taken a picture of the finished version.

Thanks Shawna, that's really sweet of you to say. I'm looking forward to it.

I haven't done embroidery in years, since I was a young girl. I do enjoy the "lost" arts that our grandmothers did.. knitting, crochet, etc. My next ambition is tatting... I just haven't wrapped my brain around the technique yet, lol!

Nice work, Chantal! It's great to see ppl keeping the crafts alive. Have you been to Crafter's Community yet? I think you will enjoy that forum... www.crafterscommunity.com Let me know if you sign up. :D

Thanks! I've been on an embroidery kick lately - probably because the Sublime Stitching patterns are so cute.

I have not been to crafter's community but I have a lull at work, so I will check it out right now.

Shawna, this is some great stuff here. I have done lots of embroidery, and your stuff looks so much better than mine... I get my designs www.embroiderydesigns.com/. Where did you get the designs for that piece? It looks really good.
