This race seems to be rather quiet. I guess that's a good thing. I was recently musing about this contest and I remembered an issue that makes this race especially critical to citizens of Bedford County.
That issue is redistricting. This is done every 10 years on the decade years. (2000, 2010, 2020......) For this reason alone I think Bedford Cty. is in a critical situation. I feel the House of Representatives is likely to remain one Party, Democratic. Not etched in stone but likely. This being the case it is more important to all Tennesseans that the Senate remain of the other Party, Republican. We in Bedford County are fortunate to have both a Representative and a Senator from within our borders. Even more fortunate is these two can and do work together to maximize any State controlled benefits that are desirable for our County. If the Democrats win the Senate seat you can bet Bedford County will be gerrymandered to become a remote wart on some District whereby we will never have a real voice. This is not a condemnation of the Democrats. The same will happen to others if the Republicans win. The old adage "To the victor goes the spoils" plays out either way for good or ill. A Senatoral District is approximately 170,000 plus. Bedford County has approximately 40,000 so you can see we are very fortunate now but never to be again if both Houses are Democratic. I hope all Bedford County citizens are mindful of this issue. Darrick, I hope you consider this issue as you decide as you have said you are leaning Rogers. That is of course your privilege, but on the odd chance you have not considered redistricting, and for others who have not, I hope you will add this to the equation as you "argue" with yourselves as to who is best for Bedford County. If we cavalierly disregard this issue we will never again have a Senator from Bedford County in the lifetime of anyone reading this missive. Near lifelong resident of Bedford County. Will comment on the issues of the day in, hopefully a cogent and certainly an honest manner. Will propose discussions not usually fully addressed in the mainstream media.

DO WE THE LITTLE PEOPLE EVER REALLY HAVE A VOICE ABOUT ANYTHING ?????? SO IT DOES NOT REALLY MATTER WHO WINS ...THEY ALL WILL PROMISE US EVERYTHING WE WANT TO HEAR TO GET VOTED IN AND MOST THE TIME THAT IS WERE IT ENDS...PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE.....WE THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERMEMT BUT WE ARE NEVER HEARD....
I feel your frustration but on a local level, I believe we have been faring well under the current representation of Cobb and Tracy.
I am sure that knowing them both means something extra, but it also brings about a feeling of comfort when I also know I will see them in our community numerous times and can talk to them person to person.
I don't know Rogers at all, let alone feel like I could strike up a conversation.
Potato, Patato, Tomato, Tamato - thats what I like about the south. I have my likes - you have yours. It makes neither of us any better or any worse than the other. Just vote your choices, and if we are all lucky, perhaps we may get to do it again someday.
rebelrose, we do have a voice for sure with these two men. they will listen to any concern you have and get you an answer. so, it does matter who wins and it is very important these two are re-elected for the sake of our city, county, and district. it is much more important having these men lead us at the local level than all the national leaders representing us. you truly do have a voice here with these men and many, many people around here have found that out firsthand.
