Cobb v Blanton IIIPosted Friday, October 17, 2008, at 10:13 AM
I can see by her advertisement in the Times Gazette Ms. Blanton has absolutely no interest in being truthful in attacking Curt Cobb on several issues where she is factually, demonstratively incorrect and she knows it. I have pointed several of these issues out on previous blogs and challenged anyone to refute my analysis and no one has. Also interesting, she never mentions any details of her tenure in the Mississippi State Senate.
I hope all who are considering the welfare of Bedford County at large will look at what has become, now, in my mind, a character issue. If a candidate will not be truthful in the campaign how can anyone ever trust their veracity if they ascends to office? Near lifelong resident of Bedford County. Will comment on the issues of the day in, hopefully a cogent and certainly an honest manner. Will propose discussions not usually fully addressed in the mainstream media.

Carl, I think a vast majority of people know Curt and know what a good representative he has been over the last few years. I also think that a lot of people know that he is a forthright and honest man who is looking to do the very best that he can for our district and for Tennessee. These negative untruths being distributed by the Blanton campaign are only serving to hurt her cause and diminish her chances at being elected. She must be desperate due to the fact that she is resorting to these underhanded tactics.
I have heard you work for Cobb. If this is the case then I really don't think you should use your blog as an unregulated sounding board for your employer. If it is true that you work for him then I would think that the equal time and equal space in the media needs to be given to his opponent. I am a Cobb supporter, and I am also a supporter of fairness, under the equal access law.
docudrama,
Carl doesn't work for Curt Cobb LOL. The man has posted MANY blogs on the differences of all the candidates. If you read his words, you would understand the question he has regarding Blanton. That question is. What does she stand for? No-one knows! All she does is blast Cobb. We know NOTHING about her, she has spent all this money talking about Cobb instead of herself. Do you not see why he is curious?
docudrama.....Do you not know supporters of Blanton or anyone else can write what they want on these blogs within the bounds of decency? Could it be she has no supporters that can find anything in her record worthy of note?

I think you've done that for them. Being a Curt Cobb supporter, it is ironic to hear you espouse the negativity of her campaign without looking in the mirror and noticing the exact same thing coming from yourself.
Disturbia........Pointing out Mrs. Blanton's errors when she attacks her opponent and his record in a very negative light is hardly negative, just factual. You seem to have a hugh problem with anyone else having a right to choose the candidate they wish to support. Sorry I didn't ask you who I should support and since you obviously haven't noticed, Mrs. Blanton's ads are all attack ads. Curt Cobb's are not.
Your thesis Mrs. Blanton is free to say what she likes and whatever it is should not be questioned is the position of someone other that an American. I am not a candidate and will support anyone I wish, publicly and in the sunshine I might add, and again I challenge you or anyone else to point out where I am wrong in the facts as I have presented them.
Ironically enough, I support Curt Cobb as well… However, I choose to focus on his accomplishments rather than belittle the next person who is trying to defeat him. So, perhaps your tone of negativity is justifiable in your eyes. But I believe it is time to perpetuate YOUR own candidate (who happens to be mine as well) rather than stooping to the level of the one you allege is nothing but negative.
I agree, her ads and mail have negative connotations, but you sir, are just as guilty and that is a matter of fact.
When did telling facts become a bad thing Disturbia?
You should not be disturbed by a messenger. Refute the mans' facts as you are clearly entitled to if you wish and have such ability.
I agree, her ads and mail have negative connotations, but you sir, are just as guilty and that is a matter of fact.
Disturbia
That is perhaps the most asinine statement I have ever read of the many on these blogs!!! I see your problem. You are the arbiter of facts!!! I always thought facts were documentable instances from several sources that opinion could not alter, and now after all these years I find facts are what your opinion dictates. How does it feel to play God?
Is that a rhetorical question or am I just jumping into to a conversation that has become infantile in nature?
Darrick......I must say I am a little surprised at your question. Many people here have offered their opinion, which they are certainly entitled to do, but then they end their opinion with statements like "that's a fact, Jack!!!" or as here "that is a matter of fact." Of all people I thought you can keep separated facts and opinions. The significance of facts are open to interpretation, facts, if facts they be, are not. If this thesis is infantile in your eyes, so be it.
problem is to me sir your facts are your interpretation of the facts, and me ending my opinion with "thats a fact jack" was just a little humor. You talk about asinine statements how about the one that came from you. "Colin Powell voted for Obama because he's black" What really bothers me is you might actually believe that, and if thats the case sir it shows you knew nothing about the man.
Sling shot...So you know Colin Powell personally??? I have stated on my blog he was on my short list of candidates I liked during the Primary Election. Your humor was not very humorous. My statement which you site is my OPINION......That's my whole thesis, people cannot and will not recognize the difference between fact and opinion. Do you deny I have a right to an opinion?
I cannot believe your opening sentence. Facts are facts!!! They will always be facts. What significance they have and whether they are open to interpretation is another matter, but FACTS ARE FACTS, by definition.
Somehow I think this conversation belongs on the other blog, titled "disloyalty" LOL...
I won't be voting for Cobb or Blanton, unless Cobb responds to a letter and an e-mail I sent him. I can't vote for Blanton, though, because she stands for everything I'm against.
