Racism rerun

The liberal bias and political correctness of the national media in this Country could not have a better display than the racially based stories out of Louisiana and North Carolina. That theses stories have racial oppression at their root, are worthy of national exploitation and are to be repeated as nauseam is totally a fabrication on the national news media. This bias extends only to cases whereby those of African decent are alleged to be ill treated and, God forbid they must never foster or promote any story that shows these folk in a negative light.

To support this position lets first look at Jena, La. Here we have 6 young men of African decent who are alleged to have collectively beaten a "white" boy to the point of unconsciousness. They were first charged with attempted murder which was reduced to a level of battery. One, a Mr. Bell, was convicted at trial of such charges. Now, in ride the Rev.(sic) Jesse Jackson and the Rev. (sic) Al Sharpton to save the day and say it is unfair to charge 6 black boys for "jumping on" and sending to the hospital a white boy! The reasoning, as I see it is that some white students hung two nooses in a tree on school property and only receiving suspension from school. They actually expect to be able to apply from their lofty perch on-high their subjective and selective notion that the law is inconsequential and should not be applied without their approval!

The facts are that no matter how despicable, how insensitive, how idiotic the displaying of the nooses are to all reasonable and caring people, the act is not proscribed by Louisiana law. Nor is it probably against the law in most jurisdictions in this Country due to the First Amendment. The Constitution protects many things, all positive, but cannot protect one from being an absolute idiot. The act of beating one to unconsciousness whether by one person or many, is everywhere an illegal act requiring sever penalties. So to support the notion, as the implication is here, that blacks may do as they wish and be allowed to decide whether it is a crime or not is so ludicrous as to almost defy comment! This along with the position that white boys, allegedly, placing nooses on a tree is the same degree of criminal culpability as black boys ganging up, 6 to 1, and beating a white boy. If the Constitution means anything, it is designed from front to back to protect the rights of the individual and not the right of the government. In an over simplification, yet telling statement, the Constitution intends to allow all to do as they wish as long as it does no injury to the person or property of another. Apply this standard to this situation and see where you are.

Pre-Jena we had the situation of "white boys" raping a black girl in North Carolina. Remember the Duke University lacrosse team and the young lady who was a stripper. After months of bashing of these young men by the national media and, oh yes, Masters Jackson and Sharpton, the truth came to light that "NOTHING HAPPENED AT ALL!"

The young lady making the charges had the dna of three different men inside her on the day of the "show", none of which were Duke lacrosse team members, but this fact was little reported lest is make her "look bad." Yet the media is not biased?

The absolute ultimate evidence of media bias towards normal citizens is the case of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom in January 2007 in Knoxville, Tennessee, not so far in time or distance from Duke University. These two young people were car jacked, kidnapped, tortured over at least 2 days then killed by, allegedly, four black men and one black woman. When I say allegedly, I am trying to be fair, but at least one of the defendants has reportedly confessed and "turned on" the others. Have you heard of this case? I doubt it. As the trials have not taken place yet, all suspects are in custody, not a lot of the facts have been released. What has been released indicates the young lady was forced to watch as the young man was repeatedly raped, beaten and strangled and then fire set to his body. The young lady apparently was kept alive for nearly 2 days. She was repeatedly raped over that time and a powerful kitchen cleanser was forced into her mouth and other body orifices purportedly to make dna evidence impossible to obtain. She was later strangled. Not only are these two young University of Tennessee students gone, and gone is such an unbelievably vile manner, the media thinks this is not worthy of anyone knowing beyond Knox County, Tennessee. Compare these three cases and tell me if the media bias of political correctness is real and applied. Also please inform me if I have misstated any facts.

The lesson to be learned here is all should realize the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have a vested interest in insuring racial turmoil continues. They must make many blacks feel as though they are victims and any transgression they commit is not their fault! Without having a large number of African Americans act and feel such monolithically, they cannot continue their lavish life style and move in the circles of celebrity. This is such a disservice to many good people. To continue their status they decry such folk as Clarence Thomas, Tiger Woods, J. C. Watts, Condeleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Bill Cosby, Ward Connerly, Alan Keyes, Thomas Sowell, Jason Whitlock and millions of black citizens who seek, achieve and live the American Dream, as not being black enough! They completely bastardize the ideal of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he admonished one should judge one "not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character."

Returning to the instant case in Louisiana, a remarkable fact is being overlooked. This is simply, "THE SYSTEM WORKED!" Five of the young men are charged with a fairly minor crime and Mr. Bell, who was convicted unjustly and his conviction was overturned by the 3rd Circuit of Appeal! Is not this the way our system of justice works? The later demonstrations revolved around Mr. Bell not being released since his conviction is overturned. One factor might be the State can appeal the Court ruling which is probably not going to happen. The real reason is, although, if you can imagine, it hasn't been reported widely, is Mr. Bell has four prior charges, two of them assault, one against a female family member, and he is and can continue to be held for probation violation which has nothing to do with the present cause celeb.

I feel sad having to outline these occurrences. I realize the race card will probably be played. Such is always the answer, it seems, no matter the question. I have a great comfort in my own skin and my true feelings are known to all who know me well and that group, thankfully, is peopled by many diverse folks. If only the press had used objective reporting and not abdicated its responsibilities since day one, we would not likely have the dissention we have today. While the press has the freedom to do as they wish they should realize that with all freedoms go responsibilities. If they were more willing to print/air the facts and leave opinion to the op-ed and commentary sections, we would likely live in a more peaceful and pleasant place.
