  • I guess when you just "know" something, there is no need to do research. Even if that research consists of 5 seconds to google the numbers. Now, not every school is in the NCAA, but it is the largest body, with 1,089 member schools. And it takes mere moments to look up the % of black athletes:

In the NCAA, which includes the "Historically Black Colleges", which will skew the numbers to show a higher percentage of black athletes than are actually representative of the average university, there were 436,702 athletes competing last year. 69,047 of them were black... Maybe you believe in alternative facts, but there is no alternative math. That is 15.81%. (a mere 74.19% less than your assertion)

Perhaps you just meant the "major sports", like baseball (4% black) or football (39% black), or basketball (the highest, at 45% black). Nowhere is the percentage of black athletes anything approaching 85%. You are, Carl, talking nonsense.

Now, I am not going to come out in support of this idiocy of trying to achieve "diversity." You cannot legislate equality. I find myself in a state of perpetual irritation with those who try. The language police, the morons waging their misguided war on statues, and trying to rewrite history. They are not a whit better than people who traffic in alternative facts and made up numbers.

  • whoops, bad math on my part... 15.81 is 69.19 less than 85. That will teach me to do quick math in my head. (another senior moment)

Well, lazarus, being off by 5 at this time of night ain't bad. Certainly close enough for government work. But don't be too hard on poor old Karl. His post was riddled with senior moments. The former cunning linguist seems to think he still knows the definition of synonym and antonym. It is kinda sad. At least he got to relive his glory days with his sly use of "hue" as a double entendre.
