Walk on!

If you can get to the Celebration, tonight's a good night to do it. The qualifying classes for the world grand championship take place and you can see some of the greatest walkers in modern history -- including several who have come out of retirement -- strut their stuff in the center ring.
So far I haven't seen a huge camp for any single contender, but several of them have strong support, such as The Coach, Rowdy Rev, Ironworks Tin man and Gen on the Run. But anything can happen, any horse can choose that time to shine, and no one knows for sure until Bobby Sands makes his announcement. Last night (Friday) was amazing. I don't know what's more fun, the little 8-year-olds bossing around 1200 pounds of gentle giant, or the old-timers, the classic horses, proving they've still got what it takes. One of the stallions contending for the big prize is also a classic -- Mister Push Button -- and on behalf of all of us who are getting creaky and cranky, I hope he does well! Don't forget the trade fair, the Civic club food booths, the barbecue tonight and the dog show tomorrow. |
