Pet Peeves, part 14319

Posted Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 3:28 PM

I just got hung up on.

Nothing can make me angrier faster, except maybe cell phone drivers or those stupid medicine bottles that require a monkey wrench, a degree in engineering and divine intervention to get open.

The woman who answered snarled at me and hung up, telling me to call back later. I'd barely had a chance to introduce myself, and no chance at all to ask my question, which would have taken all of 10 seconds to answer.

I can understand calling at a bad time. I can't understand rudeness. I'm no angel -- I have snarly moments of my own, but I could not have possibly known this was a bad time to call, so I don't think I'm the one who is making Emily Post spin in her grave right now.

My question for this person who hung up on me, is, if this was such a bad time to take calls, why did you pick up the phone?

And a simple, "I'm sorry, not now," would have been much nicer than slamming the phone down in my ear.

ha that is so funny. My parents were military so i had to be uber polite and nice on the phone and it ingrained with me..

I usually tell a phone sales person that i am busy but i hope they have a good day/night/life/week...

I cannot stand rudeness....

One of my biggest Pet Peeves is driving behind someone in a Hummer, Escalade or such very expensive vehicle only to find out they didnt make blinkers for that year model. As my sister explains to me that it drives her crazy to get behind someone driving a Hummer which these vehicles were original intended to go through most any terrain such as steep rocky hillsides, extreme muddy conditions ect but yet the person in front of you that is turning into the post office lot out front dropping of mail in one of the outside mailboxes has to come to a complete stop in the road and creep up onto the raised pavement that is about 1 inch higher than the roadway. Im glad my husband sold his old work truck years ago or I might just be tempeted to push the Hummer up onto the pavement if he was having such a hard time getting there himself. Yall have a nice day. ::grin::

My biggest pet peeves involves a trip to the grocery store, and seeing people leave the grocery cart in the parking lot next to parked cars or in one of the parking places. There are designated areas for those carts, so why can't people just put them where they go after they are finished with them. Also, before going into the store, why can't they just grab one of the carts in the parking lot, and go in the store to shop. It just takes so little time, and would help keep cars from getting scratched, and help the employees of the store.

It is so rare to find kind people these days. When I occasionally do, it just thrills me to pieces and makes my day. Don't take it personally girl; it's totally not you. I know we're cool so they must have issues.

I hate those LAZY people who park right next to fast food restaurants in the no-parking zones. Like they can't get out of their car and walk 30 feet into the building like everyone else! Lazy!!

I'm with cookie on the grocery carts. And what is more annoying is to come back to your car and find one left next to your car which now has a new scratch on it.

I hate it when there are cars parked in a handicap parking space WITHOUT a handicap license plate or tag hanging from their mirror. When they get out of the vehicle, by all appearances, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with them.

What makes it worse is when you drive a little further down the parking lot and see someone physically struggling (with some sort of handicap) who should have been able to park closer but couldn't because some inconsiderate person decided they didn't want to walk the extra few feet.

Don't get me wrong. I'm grateful to the good Lord that I don't need the handicap space. It just burns me up, that people who do need them (especially the elderly) can't get to them.

time2relax, I know exactly what you mean. When I was at MTSU, I would park in faculty spots all the time -- I figured they're paid to be there, but I'm paying ot be there, so I deserve it more than they do, LOL! But I never, ever, ever park in a handicapped parking spot, not even at Kroger, where they seem to outnumber the regular ones.

I have been tempted, when seeing an obviously physically capable person getting out of a car in a handicapped zone, to ask them if their handicap is blindness.

Two of my worst pet peeves are:

1- people who are so low class that they throw the bottles, cans and other garbage out their car windows or on the side of the road. We have convince centers all over they can use for free. It is just ignorant on their part to think that we want to look at their trash yet along have to clean up after them. We have actually found used diapers and condoms on the side our road. There is absolutely no excuse for this sort of thing.

2- smokers who throw cig. butts on the ground or just where ever when they are finished with them rather than do the right thing and just put them out, then dispose of them properly in a garbage container. We don't want or need their garbage. In Nashville a couple weeks ago some woman actually was standing next to a garbage container and still just dropped it on the ground rather than reach 2 - 3 inches to her right to put it in the trash. I asked her why she did that but she just looked at me all confused as if the actual thought of a garbage can was beyond her comprehension. It's one thing to choose to smoke and be responsible, but a complete other thing to be so thoughtless and low class as to just throw the butts where ever.
