State Representative candidates Brown and Cobb meet

Posted Monday, October 12, 2009, at 9:59 AM

(Photo)
This photo was taken Saturday at 3pm at the Bedford county courthouse. Although the debate that was originally scheduled for all three candidates didn't take place as planned because the Marsh and Cobb campaign were not able to agree on the terms, Chris Brown and Ty Cobb still took the opportunity to meet and discuss many of the issues concerning District 62. They had prayer, the pledge of allegiance and took questions from the audience.

ON ANOTHER NOTE

What do we really know about the candidates?

Many district 62 voters are convinced of who the best candidate is for the state representative position.

They will head off to the polls Tuesday to cast their votes for their candidate. But on what did they base their choice?

Well if you don't personally know the candidates then your information probably came from the newspaper, their websites, commercials, fliers or the debates.

Except for the debates, the information that we received from the candidates has either been attacks on one another or what the candidates spoon fed us on their websites, commercials and fliers. Just the stuff they want you to know about themselves. So, the only way we will ever get an answer to specific questions other than abortion, gun control, taxes etc. is to show up at the debates.

I have been very discouraged by the attendance at the debates. The reason being, of the three that were held in District 62, the combined attendance would be about 150 people, and many of them were all of us who are nearest to the candidates. If you didn't count all the campaign workers and the candidates and the media and children, all three debates probably drew less than 100 folks of the 23,000 registered voters in Bedford county. Yet that stands in contrast to the attendance that we find at the Democratic and Republican sausage and biscuit breakfast and the fish fries to which the big names are invited and they draw the large crowds.

So, is Joe Public giving real open minded consideration to the candidates set before them? Or, is the public still just rallying around their two parties as they always have? Are the folks who say they vote for the person and not the party being real honest with themselves?

And all of this while in the background America is being bankrupted, socialized and destroyed by the same two parties that have held the power since before all of us were born.

MR.Kelly i must agree cobbs poor attendance has shown me he might have important things to do than attend state meeting.Mr.Cobb Marsh are both pretty rich men so how can they represent us ALL of us when they dont know how it is to struggle and or go hungry because the already tyrant goverment has raised taxes higher and higher each time they decide they want a new car or house.Mr.brown actually knowS how it goes running long and hard across country.haveing to be on time for deliveries.sleepless nights.that has tought him many a good qualities such as communicating with new people on a daily basis.it has tought him the importance of being on time for deleviries which is as important as being on time and attending state meetings and such.I know nothing of cobb never could learn he wouldnt show up lol but it is what it is so there you go actions speak WAY louder than empty promises and lies.Marsh now at webb school said he didnt care what the party thought of him as far as him standing up for what he beleives horse sh** as much money and support as they gave him thats a lie.marsh and cobb are the same pile of it wrapped in differant packages being delivered to us via BUSTER BROWN YUP OLE UPS lol hahaha.cobbs are like the bushes ty is gonna finish what curt couldnt just ole w did his daddy and you see where are still at war aint we.IT'S WE GET BACK WHAT IS OURS I CAN NOT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS THAT WE GET CHRIS BROWN IN OFFICE AND SHOW THE WELL EVERYONE SAYS 2 PARTY YSTEMS I SAY ITS BASICALLY 1 LOL THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO SEE PAST THE LIBERAL PROPAGANDA B.S. If Cobb really wants this job, what is more important? Showing up or delivering packages?

-- Posted by justmytwocentsworth on Mon, Oct 12, 2009, at 1:11 PM

Well until he is elected in, Delivering my packages...

-- Posted by Evil Monkey on Mon, Oct 12, 2009, at 3:01 PM

I think they meant which is more important to get the job, not what should he really be doing. I would bet (just a figure of speech, officer) that UPS has more than one driver in your area EM. They're a union shop that doesn't like cutting people.

WHERE WAS PAT MARSH? at his condo or hunting lodge? Some people have to get out on Sat. but he could not be seen with regular common working folks,my my what would the people at the club think? they might even talk...oh dear...

Hey, I'm stunned that Ty Cobb showed up. That's probably only because HIS people organized this thing. This is the first time that he has been seen at one of these things and it's THREE DAYS before the election is over?

FYI, the candidates are going to be on Fox17 news tonight at 9:00. Also, on Charter 22 there will be interviews with the candidates I think at 9:00. That's the local cable channel. Everyone needs to watch and listen. Thought some of you would like to know.

I believe Ty Cobb showed up because it wasn't an event that was moderated by one of the other parties. The moderator was going to be Kent Flanagan who would have been impartial moderator. That's why Ty agreed to come. His people had nothing to do with it, he wanted it moderated by the newspaper editor. How much fairer could you get? How many people showed? Hardly any, why do you think that was? People are sick of all of the bickering between all of the parties involved.

And it is from ALL camps, From Republicans, Democrats and Yes, the Independents as well. Everyone of these camps are getting their jabs in against each other.

Personally, I am pretty sick of it, If everyone is so tired of the same old crap, Do something about it. I know there are a few doing so, and I am happy to say that I can see there is a light at the end of the tunnel; while there are people that are really pushing to make some drastic influences in the areas we need desperately. I just wish more would work to make things easier and better for the people that really care about doing what is right.

Instead we have a these squabbles about issues that really don't really affect our abilities to survive or reduce are comfort of living. Isn't this what it is all about?

Why can we not be the only County in this Nation that can just pull together with ONE common goal in making sure our residents are safe, have jobs, have food, have shelter and gain energy to motivate their own initiative to produce more for the county. I really am hoping that one day that we can just do something great that people will be envious of; that they will duplicate our innovation.

But will we do that? Hell no, cause were worried about who's in the 62nd District. Do you think any one of these three will hurt Bedford County? No, We should be darn proud that any of the men stood up to run. All 9 of them.

I'm wondering how many people actually realize that if they vote Republican or Democrat, that they are not really getting the man, but the party. The parties have spent way too much money for a job, that the winner of this election is only going to be receiving less than 20,000 dollars a year for. The winner WILL be owned by their party. They owe the party way too much when they get in there and will do what the party instructs them to do, not what the people want or need. I understand that they are good men, but that's not what is at stake, it's the power that will overtake them. They will no longer be thinking for themselves, but will be led by their owners. Just like when you buy a dog for more than it's worth, but now you have the rights and they will have to abide by your rules to stay in your house. I'm sorry, but I think way too many people don't realize that or even care. If you care about yourselves and your family you will do more research on these things. The Constitution party left it up to Brown to run his own campaign. They did not give him to money to run, he did what he did on his own and with the support of friends and people that believe in him. HE OWES NO ONE!!! He can freely vote the way he wants to vote, not the way someone tells him to. I hope and pray that this nation, that I call home, wakes up and sees the light of what is happening in our government and will rise up against it and make a stand.

Chris Brown has spent far, far less than the other two candidates, according to Chris's own estimates, probably around a $1,000.00 or less. If he's that careful with a dollar, he deserves our attention and our vote, that is unless you enjoy the tax and spend policy and attitude of the normal politician.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!

They had prayer, the pledge of allegiance and took questions from the audience. WOW! If photo ops made for good government Pres. Obama would have led us to the Promised Land by now.

-- Posted by MyMrMarty on Tue, Oct 13, 2009, at 3:02 PM

MyMrMarty

It wasn't a photo op, they took questions!

Did you take time to show up and ask a question???

Then you don't have a dog in the fight.

-- Posted by backat ya on Tue, Oct 13, 2009, at 3:41 PM

EM, I stand corrected, this was organized by Kent, not the Democratic party. Sorry for that. I've missed some things over the past few days...you know why. Thanks for the correction.

-- Posted by Thom on Tue, Oct 13, 2009, at 4:46 PM

Thom,

No problem, I wasn't correcting you, but merely trying to get everyone on the same page of what Bedford County needs.

What is sad is that American men and women have fought and died for this great country and now some places in this country you can not fly the American flag because it might "offend" someone.

http://www.katu.com/news/local/64059697....

This dishonors all the brave men and women who have fought and died for this country and what it stands for and shows the horrible direction this country is going.

On the contrary I must beg your sensitive pardon. My Dog Won!
