Oven fiasco
Posted Sunday, April 14, at 4:57 PM We were going to have a birthday cook-out for a friend so I bought some leg quarters to smoke out on the smoker. Yummm. But My husbands work had other plans, he got called in till 2:00 pm. Most of you know me, I hate to cook. I love cleaning , it is just the cooking part that gripes me, so yesterday I reluctantly put some leg quarters in the oven until my husband got home and finish them in the smoker...
Lawn mowers and I have a long history of love~hate. It all started back in the summer of 1974. I was mowing the lawn in Guam, and the darn thing would not stay started. In those days it seemed they were built heavier and more beefy. (may be my imagination)But, I digress, this day the lawn mower was Out to Get Me...
I love my Kindle. I received it from a former employer one Christmas and it really has it's perks. One is the newest "hardbacks" are available for 9.99 to 12.99 instead of the 24.99 pricing. I have seen the Kindle Fire and the Nooks that are out. My mom had a iPad and she LOVED it. My husband inherited it when Mum passed away and he loved it until it disappeared...
I bought a lovely antique Charter Oak parlor stove which I am enjoying very much during this cold weather. I was wondering if anyone knows where you can purchase replacement parts for these old but wonderful stoves? This thing is a fabulous work horse. It really is cozy, my cat Nikki loves laying in front of the stove soaking up BTU's...
Kroger family night a fun night with free Buzzagent! It may be something someone else would be interested in also! In this times of frugal living, knowing what products are good before you buy is a great thing. Getting them free to try is even better...
I am always amazed at how many people really ignore the fact that heat is dangerous for animals and small children in closed autos. A pet can die of heatstroke within minutes of a car heating up inside. Cracking the windows don't help. Heatstroke in animals is anything over 104 degrees...
how do you attract Hummers to your yard? I was wondering, I have set up hummingbird feeders, but have not seen any hummers so far. How do you attract them to your yard? My step-father in law has 5 feeders and all of them have lots of birds and they fight over the feeders. I love seeing them...
These Hands I was looking at a book the other day and suddenly really looked at my hand holding the book. When had they gotten so OLD looking? I had spots and a crepiness I had never noticed before. I started thinking back at all the things that these hands had been through:...
Well, I have not posted in forever! I have had quite a bit going on, with my mom's death and taking care of her estate stuff. My health has been bothering me for around five years. Various tests were done, maybe thyroid, maybe sleep apnea.. yada yada.. but when we switched PCP's for our new insurance plan, the new doc really took to testing me...
Book club in Shelbyville?? Is there a book club here in Shelbyville? I was wondering. As much as I read....maybe I need to join one.
Every year vets probably see a upswing to more patients in the clinics due to simple oversights by well meaning pet owners. Some safety tips from the ASPCA are: 1. If you feed your pets turkey, make certain the turkey is well cooked. don't offer under cooked or raw turkey, NO bones please. They can puncture a intestine...
A turning lane on Main street ! ~About time! I have always been drove nuts about the fact that this town had a very busy street that had no turning lane incorperated into the road when it was first built. It was always dangerous feeling to me when I had to turn left at any time. For someone who has been high speed rear ended (twice) I feel much safer having a turning lane. NOW to have people use them properly when they are installed will be the next step...
The Awesome Tide coupon lady I was trying to get some shopping done, and looking through my meager supply of coupons, I was pretty vexed I did not have a Tide coupon for the Tide that was on sale at Kroger. I went to Kroger anyhow and when I was going down the isles, I spotted a Serious Couponer...
Well, I am finally back. I left almost six months ago to go to Texas after hearing the words from my mothers doctor that she has stage 4 cancer that had spread and needed someone there. I tried to get her to move five years ago when she retired from the Civil Service but she wanted to stay there...
The fourth of July is super fun for alot of folks and they love to shoot off fireworks and have those fun sparklers, but from your pets' perspective it is a loud and dangerous time. These are like bombs going off and shreeks are horrid for them. Cats and dogs need to be kept inside idealy during this time before and after till the "fun" wears off the fireworks being shot off...
TEXAS: huge state.. but I love it.. Texas: somethings I had forgotton I loved about it in West Texas.. Prairie Dogs.. real cute and they whistle and throw their arms up while saying Wheeee like a pentacostal preacher, Wind: it always blows ... alot .. continuously..but it helps with the heat...
I have a situation that requires me to downgrade or shut off my cellphones. I have to move to Texas for 4-6 months to help my mother go through chemotherapy and sell off stuff and move her here to Tennessee. So, I called my cell phone company to downgrade and see if I could drop some lines...

the sudden slap of Cancer I have some hard things coming up real soon. Have to quit my beloved job, move to texas and move in with my mother who is dealing with stage 4 cancer we just found out about. I honestly don't know if i'll be able to work while i am in texas and try to care for her and take her to docs appts. Wish a money fairy (wealthy person) would come along and say "here I gift this amount to you..) Ah well... it will all work out..It will all work out...
Man is it hot already, and with the increased heat comes some special reminders for safety. Never leave your children or animals in a car at any time. A car in 80 degree temp can easily reach 110 temps in ten minutes. The atmosphere and the windows of a car are relatively "transparent" to the sun's shortwave radiation and are warmed little. ...
