Sometimes the forehead works better
I went on a house call, this ladies computer was printing, but from webpages it was only in HTML. If you printed in Word no problem.

I had never come across this in 8 years of doing computer repair...Finally figured it out after a wee bit..

IE was corrupted and causing a glitch...

Uninstall IE, Reinstall Presto...

OK, I have some amusing stories about computer repair.

One day i was repairing a small desktop unit for a power supply, I open that sucker up and roaches poured out of it! Ekk, yukkk.... needless to say they got billed extra for the Orkin man.

I had a lady call me for support about her new computer. She said the cup holder was not working properly. I said what??? (To myself..) but to her i asked where is this located? She said "in the front of the computer next to where i sit." OOOps, she was trying to put he drink in the CD rom slot.... Not good. She told me she wondered why it kept closing on her.

Another call: a man called about his new computer he bought, he said the foot pedal was not working correctly.

(HUH) I asked him to describe the pedal to me... small shaped kinda oval two buttens..... Ahhh the computer mouse.

So diplomatically as I could i explained it was the mouse.. hand held.

He said oh i thought it was like the sewing machine..

Interesting.

I have seen all kinds of vermin inside computer cases.

Rats, Spiders, roaches (they love electronics) and crickets. And the occasional peanutbutter and jelly sandwich.

A toddler can ruin a computer in less than 3 seconds.

I have several more amusing things that i have seen and heard over the years.... what about you??

Do you have any funny stories about computer, auto and other work related funnies??

This really isn't a funny but some say it could be just a April Fools Joke but then again a lot of computer techs say it is the real deal

When I was working for St. Johns County, FL MIS Department, I saw an abundance of brown and green anoles (lizards) inside cases.

By the way, one of the BEST things you can do for your computer is to open the case every so often and blow it out with canned air (don't tilt the can). If you don't feel comfortable with this, give a professional a call and they can do a basic PC "tune-up" to keep you running smoothly.

I work for Verizon Wireless in tech support and I still laugh when I remember the call I received from a very concerned individual regarding their cell phone.

They had just received an unwanted call from someone attempting to sell them something and when they ended the call they noticed the words "Charging" on their phone and thought they were being charged money by the company they just hung up from.

Yep you guessed it.. her phone was plugged into her charger :)

That's awesome! That's even better than user that called me up to tell me that the battery on their laptop is dead and isn't charging. When I asked them if the laptop is plugged in, they asked "Isn't that what the battery's for, so I don't have to plug it in?"

Umm...how long do you think these batteries last?

It would have been almost understandable if this were an older person that hadn't been around computers much, but this user had JUST graduated from college.
