Sam the Battering RamPosted Friday, April 17, 2009, at 4:12 PM
Sam the Battering Ram
He took the small kitten home, and the hungry cat immediately went to the dog food bowl where the food was much to big to eat, but he growled and tried. The kind man, and his mother bathed the kitten and found out his back paw was injured. He had three toes, and loads of fleas. After the little ones' bath, he got a good meal of soft food and a dish of warm milk. He promptly fell asleep on a cushion. One month later I arrived in Tennessee and declared Samantha was indeed a Sam. Sam was given all his vaccinations and neutered at the proper time. Sam, had quite the personality. He was very curious and would poke about in everything. He loved to be fed promptly and would get on top the dresser in the morning and jiggle the handles to wake us up on weekends we slept in. It did no good to ignore him he'd get louder and then drag his ID/Rabies tag on the floor if the handles on the dresser did not do the trick. We named him Sam the Battering Ram, because he hated storms and he would hit the aluminum screen door full speed if one came up suddenly. I had a permenate dent in the door from him. He was big cat, around 26 lbs, and would run off wandering dogs that came in the yard. One day, he spotted some turkey's and decided to sneak up on them, only they surrounded him and then he got scared and had to have one of us go out and rescue him from the birds. He would talk to you alot, and if you whistled his favorite tune, Yellow Submarine, he would sing with you. If you hit a sour note, he would bite you on the knee. We thought it was hilarious and would do so often, and he would chase us around the kitchen, griping because we had the bad taste to hit a high note. He also had a favorite toy, a grey mouse he would carry though the house at night calling the other cats to him. He would get quite loud. As with anyone mortal, Sam got old and started to lose weight and slow down. Sam passed away two years ago from cancer, and is dearly missed by us. He was such a awesome cat and a bright personality. I'll see him one day in heaven, maybe nobody will hit a sour note there. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Sounds like one of a kind Lesa. His story and picture is out here on the net now, so he will be remembered for a long time in this world as well as beyond.
Aww, cute story and pic. Was he meowing there or smiling? I've ALWAYS had a cat as long as I remember and miss not having one right now. I do enjoy hearing the stories.
mmp84 Sam is talking to us. This was just a couple of months before he really started getting poorly.
We really miss that scoundrel.
