This afternoon, i was working on a computer in our addition we built and I heard a loud thump on the large window. I thought someone had thrown a ball or something. When I looked outside I saw a unresponsive blue bird. The poor thing knocked himself out! I held him for a time and then he came around and was just freaked... I set him in the shade and watched over him until he regained his senses and flew off. I was glad he came to no harm, I have several blue birds that live in the houses we built for them. Maybe it was one of our birds. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

We have had about a half dozen birds take up residence in our barn and they have babies. Every time I go out to feed I just about have to wear a helmet. So I'm definitley understanding the kamikaze thing.
I bet you use Windex! LOL
I have a small bird story of my own. For some reason our mailbox gets hit all the time and it came down to where my husband had to duct tape it and the door was locked open. Well he usually checks the mail but one day I did and saw what I thought was a bunch of grass in the back. I pulled it out and it was a nest with one egg in it. We recently replaced our mailbox but before my husband pulled out the old one I checked the nest and the egg was gone. Hopefully mother and baby are fine. By the way Lesa tell your hubby his old secretary from the hospital said hi. I very much enjoy all your blogs especially the ones about stray animals but I am also sorry to hear your Mother-In-Law passed.
The campgrounds we had our trailer at when I was a child has several Kamikazi birds. There was a small swimming lake, but at one end there was a swampy area and this was where the red-winged black birds built there nest, well.....they were quite protective and if you were in the area they would swoop down on anything in their "claim" even our dog a few time. It used to be fun to see how often the birds would dive bomb you.
My husband has been borrowing his sisters truck for the last week. He went to get his motorcycle back this morning and found a surprise waiting for him. He went to put his helmet on and found that in the past week a bird had made his home in it. Well where it had rained that nest had held all the water in it. Needless to say my sister-in-law did not get her truck back this morning and I bet my husband will put his helmet down on the right side next time.
