Prairie Dogs: the comedians of the WestPosted Monday, July 6, 2009, at 9:08 PM
Jabba the Hutt
One of the places we went to was Rose Acre Park.. (no roses in sight.) where they had a Prairie Dog town. These varmits are about as big as a Guinea Pig but much more intertaining. They love crackers and peanuts and will come up to you to get the prize. The babies follow along, and tussle and run at each other. One of the funniest things they do is what I called the James Brown moment. They sit up, throw their paws in the air and squeal loudly. When 4 or 5 of them do this simultaneous it is hilarious... It is like a Pentecostal Preacher having the Holy Ghost come on him...Whooo they shreak! One of the Prairie Dogs we named Jabba the Hutt. He ate some popcorn and then sat on his rear, and gelled. He was so funny, he would start to fall asleep, hands stretched across his belly, feet sticking straight out, and then one of his den mates would pull a James Brown "I feel Good" , and wake him up. I tried to get a video for you but could not get it when they did their "thing.." Anyhow, you had to have been there it was a riot. |
