A great car buying experiance

The Kia Soul Ghost
Well I had recently told you about my car woes and the subsequent decisions we had to make concerning two dead/dying cars in two weeks.

We had someone fix our old Subaru and put a clutch in it and the older truck runs great but no AC.

So we though we'd look around at cars, used of course and see what we would like.

We already knew we'd have to take a loan out and get a newer vehicle, just how much and what kind we were not certain. After a bunch looked at, online and in person we looked at local dealerships.

I had a Toyota I traded off for my husbands' truck and I loved that vehicle and have always had good results with a Toyota (257,000 miles and going strong)and also Subaru.

I went to the local Toyota dealership and was looking at several different vehicles, one stood out as eclectic and odd like me, The Cube, but was a wee out of our price range.

So back to the drawing board to look. I kept going back to looking at Kias.

We tried dealerships in Murfreesboro and Shelbyville, and settled to looking at the Kias' in Tullahoma on Memorial day.

Small Dealership, but very friendly folks.

I was looking at some of the smaller Kias, and was very impressed with the mileage they got plus the power that they had. The Optima was very nice and had a lot of power and room! The Rio5 was one I was really looking at hard but needed a little more room for teens to get in and out.

All the sudden one came back to the lot that the salesperson said I might need to look at. It was called the Soul and this one was the Ghost model. ( Perfect name for the Goth in me) It was a greyish/dove colour, and was really cool looking.,

It was Destiny....This model had everything I was really wanting, enough room for teens, great stereo (Sirius radio) ,leather, ac/cruise/great engine, sunroof, gas mileage that is good, a million mile power train warranty and best of all the speakers light up in time to the music. (that is my sons' fave thing.)

I got down to brass tacks.

We needed a car. Did we need new? Did we want someone elses' used problem? Did we want to work on cars after we got off work like we had been doing? Did I want to take on a car payment?

I drove the Soul Ghost and fell in love. (Ok the stereo system did it.)

I had never had a new car before, it was a interesting feeling being in something new.

So now time to talk.

The gentlemen at Russell Barnett Kia never hassled me, they just asked what did I want in a vehicle?

I told them what I would like and they left me alone to talk to my husband.

When we told them we would take the Soul they were very professional and helpful.

We got all kinds of perks and a 100 over invoice. The salesman Wesley was so helpful and he explained things very clearly. I never felt hassled or pressured to "BUY NOW!! I need my commission!"

Buying a car is a big deal that is a lot of money to pay for something. I felt at ease and respected by Wesley and the manager John Colley.

Also what cinched the deal is another couple was looking at MY car and was interested in buy it too.

((OK I know not mine but ...I was in love))

It was a awesome experience, much different than I have gotten at other dealerships and I am sold on this little Middle Tennessee dealership, plus the quality of the Kia itself.

This car is built well, rides great and is snazzy too.

So I have my Soul and I am very pleased. I will certainly buy another car from these folks. Maybe a Rio5, in the future, but only if I could have them fancy light up speakers..

Congrats Lesa,

I have been driving a Kia about 4 years and have had very good service from it. Previously, I had owned 4 different Cadillacs and they had all given prolems especially when they reach about 100,000 miles, some much before that. Hope you get good service from your Kia.

I also purchased from Pirtle and I believe they are still laughing at how they took me for sooo much money! Interest rate unbelievable~I was young and dumb and paid for it for years!!!

Not in the market for a new car, but would like to find a good used one. You've convinced me I should not waste my time in Bedford County unless I purchase from an individual. Thanks for all the information.

I agree with just about every comment here. Did'nt mean to stir up this much trouble. Also Congrats to the Cox family on your new car.

Keep it in the county? Seriously, there is so much I could say but won't go there.

We have bought a van and a truck from Pirtle,s got ripped off on both of them, will never buy another one from them. Our one daughter got her PT from Beaman's they were really nice and worked with her to get the one she wanted, and the other daughter got her poniac G-5 from Stan McNabb's only because it was the only place that had one that was used and in red, which they knew that so we didn't get a good deal on it.

At this point I go where I can get the best deal.

Lesa congrats on the new car.

Its okay Lesa, if Bedford county had more a better selection of fields to offer, I am positive more people would play here...Unfortunately there are a lot of closed minded folks still in office...Maybe a change would help things out...wait the voters seemed to like the people we have...oh well.

Hang in there...Track 8 is very...interesting...haha

VANDY6: I tried to find a Nissan/Toytoa/Whatever here in Shelbyville but I just couldnt get anyone to work with me on a good price so that is why I went elsewhere...Nissan/Toyota what ever, and Bear said it very well..."don' t ist eine Klage.."

Purplehze: I had a friend that went to Alexander motor group and was treated very well. That would have been my choice had i not found the Soul.

Folks: I would love to buy here in Bedford county... and have bought ALL my cars here.. used..all my taxes go to Bedford county however if Shelbyville would have more available I would not have to go out of town ..

Oh, sorry forgot to add, that I think that the Ghost is pretty cool. But unfortunately there are 5 people in this family and I don't think we would all fit into it, lol.

We were looking to get a Chevy truck a couple of years ago and tried to go to the dealership here in Shelbyville, (that no longer sell's Chevy's) but they tried to jack up the prices and say that my bil couldn't afford to get a brand new truck. So we went to Alexander Chevy in 'Boro the next day and came home with a very sweet 4 door Chevy truck for a lot better price than the other. And alot better customer service.

We will be looking to get a used car next year (hopefully), and when we are ready we will be going back to Alexander Chevy.

Lesa, I should've taken you car shopping with me when I got mine! I think you had better luck than I did. I bought mine at the local Nissan place, and didn't have quite as good an experience. See, vandy6, local is not always better!!!!

Yea no joke, at least Lesa got what she wanted for once in her life...gah...havin a bad day or something?

way to be respectful, vandy 6.

If Shelbyville offered more, maybe those dollars would've stayed in this county. Don't tell me you never cross the county line...

First of all we do not have a Toyota Dealer in Shelbyville. And secondly a Cube is a Nissan. Thirdly, Way to go keeping those county tax $ in Bedford County.
