Kindness in a downpourPosted Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 6:11 AM
Fridays have been deemed "No Cook Fridays" in our household by executive management (me) as long as I have the cash for that declaration.
So Friday we went somewhere new, Alphonso's next to the new Roses.
It was great, fresh food, friendly folks and a great selection of seafood on the menu. What impressed me the most was the kindness of the owner, Alphonso.
It came up a really strong thunderstorm, and people were milling about after paying for their meals waiting for it to abate, when Alphonso uses a little creativity.
He gets one of the huge Cabana umbrella's and starts walking folks out to their cars. Then, he notices people coming to the restaurant and he escorts them in with his handy umbrella.
It was such a wonderful kindness to see that done by a smiling person in the middle of a downpour it really made my night.
I will definitely be back to Alphonso's, if not for the great food for the friendly smiles.
