HOT times mean animals and the elderly need carePosted Saturday, July 24, 2010, at 9:16 AM

Please put out fresh water and shade for your furry friends and NEVER leave a pet of a child in a car even for a minute in this heat. I've lived in Texas where the heat is so hot it blows out the windows on parked cars.. it is hot here too. If you can bring your pets inside please do and provide a fan for them. My dog looks stupid but i shave him down in the summer, he is a siberian husky mix and stays very hot during this weather. Just a loving reminder to watch out for our friends that may depend on us. Your dog is so adorable, I doubt he looks bad when he's shaved.
ha ha he is ashamed of himself...
OH NO>>> i just got back from Kroger a little while ago and there was a big dog locked in a car that was parked.. he was so hot... if the car was out there when i came back outside i was going to try to have the person paged to get the dog water..
If you see a child or animal locked in a car please call for help immediately don't wait it only takes minutes for them to die. Call immediately to get them help.
My one big dog that lives outside has plenty of shade, but during hot weather she gets an extra treat. I make small blocks of ice and put them in her water to help keep it cool and refreshing. No one should ever leave an animal in a locked vehicle in this heat.
Our cat will scratch at the fridge and cry till I get her ice to play with. It totally baffles her when I put it with her water. (she is fussy wants filtered cold water from fridge dispenser. Boy does she have us trained .....
