Black Friday: do you or don't you?

I was discussing with someone about holiday shopping and how much I hate crowds. They thought for certain I was the type that loved Black Friday and would be up at the crack of dawn, and wait for stores to open. I laughed at her and said you could not pay me to go to shopping on that day.

What do you think? Do you make Black Friday a annual event? Or do you do like me, avoid it like the plague??

I personally love the internet...it is wonderful.

I am like you, I avoid it like the plague. I have a good excuse this year though, I have to work thursday and friday night.

Crowds during the Holiday season make me into a Scrooge, so I stay away.

I hate shopping on Black Friday, and yet I invariably end up having to do a story about everyone else shopping on Black Friday.

Sigh.

I avoid it at all cost . . . nothing is that cheap that is worth dealing with crazed women who will do absolutely anything for a cheap deal.

It has been many years since I went shopping on Black Friday. I guess as I have gotten older, the craziness and the massive crowds just don't appeal to me. If it is something I really need or have had my eye on, I had rather pay that full price and avoid getting my blood pressure raised to an unthinkable level. My daughter, on the other hand, enjoys it! I don't understand that.

I hate it - mostly because when I worked retail, I always had the 5am start time...

I don't avoid it like the plague, however I don't rush out at the crack of dawn... so, I guess I am one of those who will probably visit a few places on Friday, but I probably won't make it a point to be there when the sales start...

I did get a GREAT DEAL last year on a Big Screen LCD TV at Sears though so it was worth it to be out early then... but I still didn't get there until about 10 or so.

Oooooh, I remember those days of retail. I used to be with Service Merchandise and the Christmas Season was open to close.

One year in Atlanta I had a sports department plus the cash office. I ended up managing the department from within the cash office and rarely got outside except to make cash pulls from the registers.

I still remember my assistant Charisse. Without her the Sporting Goods department would have been chaos. Strangely, when I became manager, it never seemed so hectic.

i think i will go to one local place this year.. 4 blocks from my house just to see if they still have that necklace i liked.
