A cell phone Miracle

I have a situation that requires me to downgrade or shut off my cellphones.

I have to move to Texas for 4-6 months to help my mother go through chemotherapy and sell off stuff and move her here to Tennessee.

So, I called my cell phone company to downgrade and see if I could drop some lines.

To drop my 4g lines would be a breach of contract, 200.00 per line, to downgrade would be a breach of contract also.

OooooKay...

So I was told that I could write a formal letter to the Customer Relations department and let them know what was going on.

I did Friday. Yesterday I got a call from the Office of the President of the company. The gentleman I spoke with said they were discussing my letter at a boardmeeting and they had all had family members touched by cancer at one time or another...

They made the decision to forgive my contracts, They were going to down grade my phone to a text and call only phone ( what I wanted) also send me out a new one at no cost to me, when I had let it slip my old phone had screen damage.

I just have to send the 4g phones to them, when I get my Samsung Aqua in the mail.. NO problem. Those others would just be nice paperweights.

I have NEVER had a company care or take the time to call me like this one.

I was thinking of switching carriers in the past, before my

change of life, but now.. I will not be switching. This company was amazing.

I got this astounding news right after clocking out at my beloved job, and seeing the breakroom filled with people to have me a surprise party. Even people came in on their days off. I have never cried so much as I have this past day.

I am overwhelmed with love for my co-workers and understanding from stangers.

I will keep you posted on my Texas aventures.. I will be bringing mom back to Tennessee even if I have to look like the Beverly Hill Billies in my Kia..with mum strapped to the top.

With my newly downgraded phone..

Fantastic Lesa! Thanks for sharing both the cell phone and work experiences you had.

In today's world one would expect a firm, "no way" and this is heart warming to hear. AND, not only did they do it, but the Office of the President was involved? Super!

By the way, you probably won't need my assistance, but you know some of my background on selling, so if I can be of some assistance (pro bono of course), please let me know.

What gave you the idea to write them?

It's good to hear that some cell phone company is considerate, but my daughter had a very differennt experience today with a cell phone company. She lost her husband a short time ago and went to have the contract changed from her husbands name. She was told that she could not as her name was not on the contract. After several words were exchanged, she finally told them, O.K., I just won't pay the bill. After she left, she got a call telling her if she would bring a death certificate they would change the contract. Why didn't they tell her at first she would just have to bring a death certificate, as she had it with her in their office if they had only asked for it while she was there.

You can vacation suspend a cell phone for a period up to six months at a charge of $10 per month.

Yes, it was Verizon. This was really a bad time to give someone a hard time, when she had just lost her mate, and he died from cancer. Lesa, I am sure proud you were given better treatment. Praying your mother will do well.

So sorry Poksalad, never an easy thing to have to deal with. Unfortunatly I know of NO ONE that has gone into the Verizon store and gotten good service. I have found the phone reps easier to deal with...and nicer.

Good Luck Lisa. So glad you were able to get an outcome you wanted and were happy with...much less from the office of the President. You are in our prayers as you go thru this difficult time.
