From Flea to shining Flea!
Cats and dogs need to be kept inside idealy during this time before and after till the "fun" wears off the fireworks being shot off. Their hearing is sensitive, they may run off and become lost, they could be abused by horrid people and could get killed or severly injured. Fireworks contain toxic chemicals and of course cause burns. A lit firework could injure paws or the face and eyes of your pet, and be careful with the decorations you use. Your pet may just think they are another new "toy" and ingest streamers or other strings and become impacted and have intestional problems. When you keep your pet indoors, leave a soothing radio on to mask some of the sudden booms and pops of the firecrackers and things. I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday. Great post!
I would just like to comment that parents should make their children realize that animals do not like fireworks thrown at them either. I have already seen someone letting their children throw the little "poppers" at their puppy and think that it's funny.
And other people's animals are not targets either! (we ran into that a few years back with the neighbor's children throwing firecrackers and smoke bombs at our dogs)
