  • Shawna, what a beautiful story -- and a beautiful message for those of us who get too caught up in the commercialism, and not the Christianity.

Thank you for the kind words ladies. It was just a good feeling to be doing something for someone lonely and/or forgotten, without expecting anything back in return. It was a wonderful lesson for our children, and if you would like to join in next year please send me an email.

I am also coordinating efforts to do something similar for the families who are in hiding from an abusive partner/husband/father [or mother, as the case may sometimes be]. Obviously we would not be able to deliver anything in person due to the protective circumstances, but that good feeling is still there just in the knowing of it. I am a 12 year domestic violence survivor (from my first marriage) so I can honestly tell you that there is no one who feels more alone, scared and lost than someone in a similar situation. Help spread the love...do a kindness for someone in need of hope.

  • This is a very sweet Christmas story! What a wonderful experience to share with your family! A smile on a child's face is definitely a special uplifting of the spirit! I just registered with the Shelbyville Times. I am trying to find my Mom after not seeing her for 25 years. After a little research I believe she may be in Shelbyville. I wish there was a way to post a story for her. I don't want to bother her if she doesn't want to be found but I just need to tell her that i love her. Maybe I'll write a book, haha!
