We have just returned from paradise, and it was wonderful!
Jim & I married 50 years ago on Feb. 12, 1958. We decided that instead of a 50th anniversary reception we would go to Hawaii. We had been before and knew that our favorite island was Kauai. We rented a condo on the east coast of the island, and conditions were ideal. The weather was great. We stayed 10 nights & it only rained the day before we were to leave. The temperature had been in the low 70s until it rained. Then it warmed up, and the day we left it got up to 85. That made me feel better about leaving. I loved those 72-degree days.
We have decided this was the best visit we have ever had to Hawaii. We could sit in the living room, bedroom or on the lanai and watch whales spray and breach in the ocean. That was exciting. Jim could even sit and watch TV and the surf at the same time. That's pretty unusual. We left the door open and listened to the sound of the surf all of the time.
I have already asked him if I can start planning another trip. I remember reading that Sarah Cannon (aka Minnie Pearl) once said that in order to increase your longevity you need to plan ahead - buy green bananas, start reading a serial, and make reservations. You need something to look forward to. That sounds like a good philosophy to me.
It was truly a wonderful trip. Now if I can just get my sleep habits back to normal.
