Do people really believe those ads?

Posted Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 10:29 PM

I had the TV on today & saw a commercial advertising a pill that could be taken to rid your body of belly fat. Does anyone really believe a pill will eliminate belly fat? There is a money back guarantee when you order by paying the cost plus postage and handling.

There are many similar products advertised on TV.

My husband wanted to order the one that said you could put it on scratches in glass to eliminate the scratches. My husband needs a product like that. He has two pair of glasses, and both are scratched. However, I'm skeptical and mentioned this to the manager of our eyeglass store. He said if that product worked they would use a ton of it in the lab because of all the scratches they create trying to get our glasses ready. The product evidently eliminates the scratch. It doesn't say it makes the glass like new.

What about the people who write and sell books that tell how you too can become a millionaire? Any writer with a gift of gab and ability to lie can write a book like that. (Are any newspaper writers reading this?) He probably doesn't make his million until the books sell.

Have you bought anything advertised on TV that sounds too good to be true? If so, did it work like they said it would?

Quantumcat, I have always gotten fever blisters. I have very low iron in my blood and I get sick very easily. In the books that I referred to earlier, it says that you can take Red Marine Algae and full body cleanses for the fever blisters too. It's a viral infection that lives in your nerve endings. It remains dormant for the most part, but being out in the sun or being sick or even being stressed can cause the blister to come up. I always have them right on top of my upper lip and I hate it! However, when I read the things for curing it in the books, I tried it. That has been almost a year ago and I haven't had a fever blister since. And I feel good when I do the cleanses. The nature store by Fit Club has all of the cleanses. They don't give you the runs, they just help to clean you out. They are pill form. I don't know about the pimple zappers you asked about, but if you have or get fever blisters, you should give the natural remedy a try!

I tried the Ped Egg. It was and is in my opinion, a very good product.

I could have lived without seeing them dump the skin in the garbage on the ped egg commercials though.

I'd wondered about those.

If your doctor gives the go-ahead,why not?

(Some people can't use some natural remedies and diabetics would have to be careful about abrading their feet.)

I got a lot of good out of Dr. Crook's "Yeast Connection" when it first came out.

I felt as if I'd been run over by a steamroller the first day but after the toxins were out of my system,I felt immeasurably better.

It's strange how low-grade dysfunction can feel "normal" until you are reminded of what health feels like.

What do you want to bet there will be people using Ped Eggs on their horses?

Has anyone tried those electric pimple zappers?

I've wondered if they were recommended for fever blisters as well.

I got one of those Ped Eggs. It does work, but not like the commercial says. And it did make my feet hurt a bit. The only other thing I have bought from a tv ad are 2 books called Natural Cures by Kevin Trudeau. I read most of them. My husband read all of both of them. And we have tried several different things that the book suggests you do to naturally rid your body of toxins and it works. I feel better than I did when I was a teenager. And it helps to keep weight maintained too! I really like the book. I would suggest it to anyone interested in learning how to naturally cleanse your body and feel energized.

I also say the very same thing about the ads on like Arby's...They look so good ...But I have not yet had one like I see on their windows or T.V....I have always said I am going to take this back and tell them it does not look like the picture...But my son always say's ..right mom sure you are going to do that...he knows I have a hard time about telling someone how I feel..I just have a hard time hurting someones feelings....It really is not their fault..They are trained on how to make them...We need to go to the Big people....I did buy a tree several years back that said it was 3 feet tall and when I got it in the mail it was about 12inches...I did call them and they just said that it would be 3 feet tall within a year after planting it...But that is not what the catalog said...And it never made it...

rebelrose,I tried Sun-In and an instant tanner.

What was left of my hair turned Vandy orange and when the allergic reaction eased up,my skin went from Popsicle purple to upchuck yaller.

Instead of looking like Cheryl Tiegs or Cybill Shepard,I started high school looking like H.R. Puffenstuff (without the tail).

Thank Heaven, the yearbook pics were still in black and white.

You need to start taking pictures of your adventures rebelrose.

I try very hard to screen those ads but occasionally I give in. Never had a TERRIBLE experience but it never lived up to the claims either.

I compare it to the great looking food I see on the fast food ads and then when you see it in person, I think of Clara Peller and "Where's the beef".

quantumcat...My life is like a sitcom 75% of the time...I need to tell the story of me checking out the rocking chairs in Big Lots and when my son turned around all he saw was my feet up in the air..I was laughing so hard I could not get up and had to roll to my side to get on my knees...Thank Goodness i still have good bladder control...Never ever buy the stuff that will make you look tan naturaly with out the sun....Just take my word for it...I walked around looking like I had a bad liver for about a week...But my knee caps were white and the side's of my feet...Never try to frost your hair yourself...i looked like i had laid down on the road and one of those trucks ran over me that paint the lines on the road...

There's a sitcom episode in there somewhere.

(It's not enough that we're told to worry about people coming out of the closet.

Now,we have to be concerned about out-of-season clothing.)

I guess vacuum packing isn't a perfect storage solution for the Fibber McGee-type packrats out there.

Yes..I have a while back...The bags you stuff until you can not stuff any more and then suck the air out and every thing goes flat as a penny run over by a train....Well they did go flat as a penny ...BUT.....I put them all in the bottom of our closet and it felt wonderful getting all that stuff out from under the bed out of boxes....But one day my husband opened the closet to get a shirt out and was almost knocked down from everything coming out of the closet...The bags broke and they blew up in the closet and Oh my what a mess it was....If you use them and you have a cat...DO NOT let them snoop around your closet ...cause they will be sure to put their little claws in them...I think that is what happened...or maybe I just over stuffed too much...
