What? A clean campaign?

Posted Monday, November 3, 2008, at 6:37 PM

I have watched (heard is probably the correct word) far too many negative political ads on TV during this election campaign. The presidential candidates' ads are the worst. There have been many comments in these blogs about one or two local candidates slinging mud.

It dawned on me earlier today that there has been a clean campaign during this period. State Senator Jim Tracy of Shelbyville is seeking reelection. His ads have only been on TV in the last few weeks, but those ads are extremely positive. There has been no mention of inexperience on the part of his opponent. As far as I know, his opponent, Jean Ann Rogers of Murfreesboro, has not had any TV ads. Perhaps there is a lack of funding in her campaign; perhaps her advisors thought it would not be worthwhile.

I want to commend these two individuals and their staffs for running such clean campaigns. It is unusual today but very much appreciated.

Rebelrose,

With over 200 people in attendance at the Obama party, I probably missed you... Sorry!

Evil Monkey

I keep up with these things pretty close. I understand about the small print. I was talking about the Rogers mail piece being negative. I also said Tracy didnt allow his party or someone that endorsed him to go negative. When i said endorsed I meant the organization that endorsed the candidate paid for the mail piece.

A close friend of mine coordinated the event... It is for Obama supporters to gather from 7:30-midnight to watch the election results roll in and celebrate regardless of the outcome. It is to honor and thank all of those who worked hard to register 400+ new voters, who aided in visibility, etc.. but also for ANYONE who supports Obama. I assume I will see you tonight? In the meantime we are all working on getting folks to the polls and making sure voters are comfortable by providing water and snacks.

The negative piece was not endorsed by Cobb for Blanton that was not sanction by him; remember to read that small print sometimes it can tell you alot.

This race has been clean for the most part. Rogers has done one negative mail piece on Mr. Tracy that I can remember. I also believe someone that endorsed her also went negative against Mr. Tracy. Mr.McClanahan wrote a piece about Rogers going negative. It seems like out of all the races surrounding us; Jim Tracy is the only candidate with character. He didn't allow his party to do his dirty work, someone who endorsed him, nor did he stoop that low himself. I commend Mr. Tracy for his character.

Yeah I saw an ad for Jean Anne, but it wasn't negative. And I haven't seen any negative ads of Jims either.

I saw a Jean Anne Rogers ad on TV over the last week, but I use a DVR so the campaign ads are lost on me since I zoom right past 'em. As a matter of fact, I can't say that I've seen one single negative ad on TV this campaign season. Radio is another matter, I can't skip past those. But I've not heard anything negative about ether one of those candidates and both of them have come by the house, albeit Jim was just walking down the road at the Craft Fair, but he still took the time to stop and shake my hand as he walked by.
