  • I know what you mean it seems that everytime you get adjusted to a channel or a time slot that they change the dang thing! What's with that? Is it really necessary?

  • I quit Charter about 2 years ago when they would not get on board with the NFL Network. They would not even offer it as a sports package which I was willing to pay extra to obtain. I was nervous about getting satellite as I had heard people talk about it going out when it rains and such. I can promise you, I will NEVER go back to cable again. My satellite very seldom ever goes out( Charter went out much more often)and the picture quality is amazing. Dont be afraid to join a provider and drop the cable for good. The NFL Network was very important to me and they would not even offer the opportunity to buy it. Charter has lost my business because they were bullheaded.

  • I'd considered going back to cable but bluegrass was one of my favorites.

(Why do I think classical, show tunes,R&B,world music ,children's music and oldies are the other discontinued channels?)

Current pop and country hits can be found anywhere.

I like having music that is different and belongs to a period when the artists and listeners (rather than business concerns) determine what will be created and performed.

I guess I could rely on the Net (assuming I could convince my roommates not to eat the speaker wires again) but it seems as if people with niche interests keep being treated as if they don't count even if there are hundreds of channels, periodicals, etc. out there.

Regular commercial ventures may not be able to accommodate all of us but,if we feel ignored and dismissed, they may not have the chore of accommodating any of us.

  • Buy a Sirius radio and turn the cable off!!

  • We have Sirius XM radio on both our vehicles, & we can play it on the computer for free. However, this would mean putting a laptop in the bedroom. I've been shopping for a new laptop, as the old one has a tinny sound (& not just when we play the bluegrass channel). I'd have to teach my husband how to start the laptop. Maybe he can just put a bluegrass CD in his bedside stereo. It's just that there was such a nice variety of artists on the cable channel.

  • Betty,

I do not have Sirius myself, but I do know that if you have the portable receiver in your vehicle they make a "base" to hook it up in your home to use it inside as well as in your vehicle.

  • No, we do not have the portable. The XM radio came with our vehicles. I had a portable Sirius in my previous car but gave it to a daughter-in-law.

  • Taste in music has changed some over the years, huh Lesa?

When you and I first met, I would have NEVER imagined you sitting back and listening to "smooth jazz".
