What a great weekend for football!

Posted Sunday, October 2, 2011, at 4:54 PM

I think the football games were especially good this weekend. That is probably because all my teams won.

First there was Friday night when the Shelbyville Central High Eagles defeated Lawrence county 41-6. The night was cool and clear, a perfect night for football in Middle Tennessee.

Saturday UT defeated Buffalo 41-10. That was a good game on a beautiful day in Knoxville.

Then this afternoon the Titans ended up beating the Cleveland Browns (in Cleveland) by a score of 31-13. The weather was a little wet in the second half, but it didn't seem to bother the Titans.

It is so unusual for all of my favorite teams to be victorious on the same weekend. Congratulations to all the winners, especially those young men in blue who have played so very well every Friday night of this season. Perhaps some of you will go on to play with the big boys.

Ditto that. If you haven't seen the Eagles play this season, that's too bad. They are an exciting team to watch. Not only do they have some "stars", but they seem to play so well together as a TEAM which is even more important.

Also, my nephew, Jacob Tucker, broke the state record for career running and passing on Friday night, as Perry County beat Richland 47-8.

Congratulations to Jacob Tucker. Does he play for Perry County?

Yes, he does. He's been the starting quarterback there since he was a freshman; he's now a senior. He was up for 1A Mr. Football last year against two seniors.
