How do you deal with trick-or-treaters? Do you enjoy them or find them bothersome?

We generally have 150 to slightly over 200 trick-or-treaters come to our door. As usual we have some candy to give them…and hope no parents claim someone in our area was putting pins or needles in the candy.

I recall one year after a series of robberies no one over the age of 12 was allowed to wear anything over their face on Halloween.

One thing I always worry about is excited kids running out in front of cars.

There are two types of trick-or-treaters I dislike dealing with; those with large pillow cases half filled with candy and those with two containers, wanting something in each container and claiming the second one is for his little brother who is sick and can't go trick-or-treating.

The one claiming sickness in the family always has a sick brother. I've yet to see a separate bag for a sick little sister.

Be that as it may, I'll have one treat per trick-or-treater and enjoy the kids as long as the candy holds out.

One little girl made it all worthwhile last year when after receiving her treat, she insisted I lean down so she could kiss my cheek and thank me.

Yes, we love trick or treaters. We live in a cul-de-sac so traffic is not so much a problem here. We have developed a tradition where everyone in our cul-de-sac gathers at our house and we sit on our carport with all the lights on and greet the little goblins with treats for their efforts. We also get a second blessing by being able to visit with our neighbors while we pass the treats out. It is also refreshing to see the adults coming around with their children in order to ensure the safety of the children.

I LOVE Halloween and all the little kiddies who come to my house! I used to live in a place where at the most we would have 10 (and that was in a good year!)

Now, I live where we have anywhere from 80 to 120 and I LOVE IT! I almost always dress up and sit out on my porch and hand out candy. I like to buy the little Halloween treat bags and fill them, it makes it easier to give the "Good stuff", but in a quick way!

I do get upset when they start coming with no costume or with the big pillowcases... these kids usually don't get a "Treat bag" they just get a piece of candy... this bothers me and as those usually come later in the night I usually start closing up about that time!

I remember one year I dressed as the Werewolf and was sitting in a chair (It swiveled around)just inside the door... 3 little boys from across the street came up and knocked on the door, I turned the chair before I got up and 2 of the boys (the 2 oldest) screamed and ran back to the house across the street. I got up, laughing, and opened the door to where the smallest little boy (he was probably about 4) looked up at me and said "It's not a monster!" And happily accepted the candy I gave him... the other 2 never came back! :-)

I love to dress where people don't know me... it makes it so much more fun, since I'm well known by the kids in Shelbyville! I don't intend to scare the kids, but sometime it happens! And it's usually the older ones that get scared!

If I get any trick or treaters where I live, then I'll just have to give em an apple meant for the horses...I live in the boonies.

We don't get ANY trick or treaters! I'm out in the 18th district......NO ONE comes down my road unless you live there, lol. Although I have two babies, I don't take them to various houses on Halloween, not the unknown type anyway. We go from relative to relative, and usually on the weekend before Halloween.

I LOVE trick or treaters, BUT now I have a dog that spooks easily, so we don't do it at my house anymore. Most years, we go to my mother's house and give out candy there. The one thing I HATE HATE HATE is when the ADULTS trick or treat.

Awww Bo that is sweet

We don't have many Trick or Treaters and I really miss that..it seems they go now mostly in large sub divisions. I use to dress up and scare them at the door..

I always really hated it though when the big kids starting coming around not even dressed up when they started that's when my closed my door and turned out the lights.
