Super Bowl vs. super ads

How do you feel about all of the terribly expensive ads shown throughout the Super Bowl? Do you enjoy them, or do you find them annoying?

I'll admit I'm prejudiced against the ads. I realize the ads pay for our being able to watch the Super Bowl, or any sports event for that matter, from the comfort of out homes.

Over many years I spent too much time standing in the cold and rain while covering televised college or pro games from the sidelines to be neutral on the subject. All of the ads greatly prolonged that time in the cold and rain.

Does the excessive number of ads disrupt the normal flow of the game and to some extent take it out of the hands of players and coaches?

Or, did you enjoying seeing the action called to a halt so you could watch some frogs croak?

I was pretty disappointed with this years "crop" of super bowl ads. I think the funniest one to me was probably the one with Shaq riding a race horse. Unfortunately, I don't remember what they were selling...

I would feel very good about that company and feel even more inclined to do business with them. A simple mention of the name and then saying "we have donated the 2.6 million dollars to (enter charity here)" would be amazing to see and hear.

How good would you feel if some of the corporate giants buying those million dollar commercials would simply announce their name and say they are donating a similar amount to some worthy chatity where all the money goes to help those in need?

I watched the ads, and must say, none of them blew me away. I went to see a couple of Titans games and didn't know, until going to my first, that the game halts in order to show commercials.

After watch this years batch of commercials, If I was going to spend millions for a couple of seconds, I would have been a bit more creative. The only good ones were the previews of the summer movies coming out.

Pro football in general is a much slower pace than high school or even college. My first Titans game I found it hard to even remember down and distance since there play stoppages for every conceivable reason. There's a reason every stadium, college and pro, has a big video board. It's not for replays, it's to run ads and generally fill time while TV ads run.

I seem to rarely recall ads stopping the game, but maybe I was not aware of it. I thought they got their ads in when there was a natural break in the action.
