I haven't heard anything!
I need to research it. If cable goes up any more, we will have to down grade to basic, with internet. Our bill is a little over $100 a month as is!
Me too Mary I am sick of every time I get the cable bill, it is a little more. We need another Cable company to come in and give them some competition
I agree, more competition!
I used to use Charter Cable for my internet service. When they first started billing me my internet bill alone was $29.95/mth for about the first 6 months. The next 6 months it went up to $39.95/mth. Soon after it increased to $49.95/mth, and FINALLY settled in at $59.95/mth. That's when I finally had enough and called them, and "because you are a valued customer and always pay on time, you qualify for our special discount." [Which went back to $39.95/mth.
Until they have REAL competition they will continue to do as they please. I think all internet service providers, should be able to compete in rural areas. I have to rely on Satellite internet now, and needless to say it is OUTRAGEOUS! But, due to school, etc, it is necessary :(
Does anybody know when other companies will offer cheaper broadband access in the Unionville area... [Not in the United Telephone coverage map]
Verizon has internet access not sure if it is available in all areas but I can't see why not.. May want to check them out.
I have looked into that, but I can only get the satellite connection through them as well. The DSL isn't available in my area :( Thanks though!
It would be great if they offered a "pay-per-channel" for the regular cable channels. Out of about 60+ channels that we pay for, our household only uses about 10 of them per day. I mean, we don't play golf... so why should I pay for the golf channel? Would you buy a Cadillac and never ever drive it, or even sit in the driver's seat?
So, basically, we're paying 50 bucks a month for the 4 Nashville News channels, and cartoon network. With a few other channels we occasionally flip to.
Verizon tells me that my tower is 4.5 miles away, yet today I am having a "bad cell day" which means it goes from nothing to 1-2 clicks. I would love to get off satellite, but that kind of dependability would kill me.
I wish they would be FIOS. Sick of the slow cable/dsl speeds. I want what european and asian markets get.
I agree Evil Monkey!!! Fiber Optics would be amazing... well it is is, where available!
Don't even get me started on cable...ugh...I love the GameShow Network and now I can't watch it any longer. It's still on Channel 26 but it says you have to subscribe to digital cable and get a receiver to receive this channel now. I am afraid they are going to start doing that with all the channels until all I have left is 2,3,4,5, and 11. Yet, even after losing 3 cnannels (including the G4 channel which aired my beloved Arrested Developement), I still have to pay the same price...
If I had wanted the box, I would have gotten it to begin with. I don't have the need for 6 history, 5 discovery etc. etc...
I hate cable, yet have had really bad experiences with satelite, so I am just stuck. I wish we had more choices in atleast the cable providers.
Agreed Disturbia!
I've heard AT&T is supposed to be expanding to Rural areas in huge numbers by the beginning of 2009.
But that could be pure speculation, these days you never know! Luckily, my internet will suffice, but I would love to have the FIOS internet offered in other nations :)
Has anyone else heard comcast is trying to come to this area? I don't know if they are any better or not but I did hear that rumor today.
Haven't heard.. And they jack their rates up after 6 months anyways!
