Senior TripsPosted Friday, May 9, 2008, at 2:47 PM
When you were a senior in high school did you go on a Senior Trip, as a class prior to graduation or individually with friends after graduation?
My senior class at Shelbyville Central High School had a class trip prior to graduation. We went first to Pensacola for a brief stay and then to New Orleans. What did you enjoy most of all? Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Our Shelbyville Central High School class of 1958 went to Washington, D.C. just shortly before we graduated taking in the Natural Bridge in Virginia as well as Mount Vernon and Monticello. We thought that we were not very interested in the History. We thought that we were only interested in the foolishness that teen-agers tend to get into. However, almost 50 years later it is amazing how much of that History has stuck in my mind. Teachers are smarter than the average bear.
My senior class trip was supposed to be a day trip to NYC but no one wanted to go (it was over-scheduled and allowed no time to do anything on our own) so we didn't have one. I think all the seniors ended up cutting school the day we were supposed to have the trip.
Our class, Class of '66, went to Washington DC on a chartered bus. So much to see so little time. I guess the thing I remember most is seeing the exhibit of the USS Dorchester in the Smithsonian. My father was on the ship when it went down and survived.
I went to Ocean City, MD. It was a blast.
When i graduated from Cascade High in 1977, I had the pleasure of going to Atlanta to help move my cousin down there from Illionis. Our trip was cut short as my beloved Aunt Eleanor died while we were there. I finally got to got back in August to see Six flags and have some real fun.
Believe it or not Steve and Mike my senior class didn't go to Florida and New Orleans by covered wagon. I know it has been a long time but we went by chartered bus.
Unfortunately, I got a job 1 week prior to graduation which paid really well at the time and it helped pay my freshman year of college. In hindsight, I should of taken the senior trip to Florida with my classmates...
I almost said we did not go on one, but with a little jogging I do remember a senior trip to a resort. Don't remember much about it except one of our classmates was goofing around and ran through a plate glass window.
He survived with no major injuries.
