More Vince Young

Posted Monday, September 8, 2008, at 4:12 PM

I'm sorry quarterback Vince Young of the Titans suffered a knee injury in Sunday's win over Jacksonville,but...

One question keeps popping into my tiny mind. At this point in time is Young as likely to beat the Titans as he is to beat an opposing team?

Is he a team player?

I don't blame Young at all for one obvious problem in the passing game. What is the point in throwing a three-yard pass on a crossing route over the middle on third down when the team needs eight yards for a first down? That is busy territory to count on much running after the catch.

It is time for problem solving or positive signs of that work in progress we've heard for a long time. The defense can only carry the team so far.

Bo...as much as we folks in central Texas enjoyed watching Vince during his college days, there was always a serious question about whether someone could transform those abilities into his becoming a winning pro quarterback. I really thought Jeff Fisher's coaching philosophy was the best bet to make that happen. With the shuffle of o-coordinators the Titans have run thru Nashville, I suspect the volume of all those play-books have been a bit much for Vince's free-spirited style of play, and that style just doesn't seem to cut it in todays NFL. As to your "team player" question, I suspect most of us would agree that his level of effort/desire to win is huge, but that's only one chunk of the team-player equation.

I'm sorry that Vincent got hurt (both emotionally and physically) but maybe it will be a blessing for our team. With his salary, he needs to either grow up and play ball with the big boys or get out! He also needs to understand that the fans fork out their hard earned money and they have the right to express their disappointment. In a sport that prides itself on toughness, what an embarrassment to have such a quarterback!

I agree . . . with as much money as he makes, it is hard to feel sorry for his situation. He is an adult and needs to learn to handle adversity better and not act the way he does. Fans pay lots of money to see a good football game . . . not to see him act childish and sulk.

Im sorry he is having all of these problems because I hate to see anyone suffer. But speaking of just football, the truth is he is not that good and I don't think he ever will be. Everyone saw him as the second coming of Steve Mcnair and he doesn't come close. Steve McNair was a special quarterback who could beat you several different ways. Vince Young didn't lead the Titans to the playoffs. The titans made it despite Vince Young. Much ado about nothing! They should have taken Jay Cutler!
