Unusual Dreams

What is the most unusual thing you've ever dreamed?

Did it come true?

Unusual dream would be when I was a young child, I had two recurring dreams.

The first one was in black and white and it was me walking in a wind storm on my road with a large umbrella and being lifted off the ground while flying uncontrollably down the road. At grade school level it was quite distressing experience to say the least.

The second one was when I was a toddler I would have a recurring nightmare of one of my relative going down the drain of the bathtub. That one lasted for several years.

Neither one of these came true. Neither did me marrying Alyssa Milano either, but I got one that resembles her. Still a hottie.

During my senior year at Shelbyville Central High School I had the same dream practically every Thursday night just as I went to sleep.

Of course this was prior to our football game on Friday night.

I would dream I was pole vaulting and just as I was high over the bar I would suddenly be wide awake.

For the record I had never pole vaulted in my life.

I would have a recurring dream/nightmare that I was paralyzed and would make up in a cold sweat.

Never thought much about it until I went to bed one night and for some reason my legs started cramping from the thighs down to my calves and I had to crawl across the room to my parents room to get help.

I was 17 at the time and was never so scared on my life.

I had a dream 2-3 times before of me going to visit old friends in Cleveland Ohio, and on the way back my car would have to climb a steep hill and I would wake up when the car begins rolling backwards. I also had the same dreams over and over again of going to murfreesboro, and trying to make it back home but peices of the vehicle kept falling off. And by the time I get home, my family either moved or I got lost and never made it home. Neither one of them came true, but I use to take it as a sign that I will Die in a car wreck trying to get home.

I've had 7-8 dreams about flying. I'm either on a plane waiting to take off or I'm flying and there are always problems, I have never actually crashed because I always wake up before that happens. Needless to say I have never flown and probably never will.

My dreams tended to be little "movies" that were quite entertaining until I woke up and tried to make them make sense.

(That's a hard enough task for my waking hours.)

Those leg cramps can be hideous.

I'm not sure what folks think about quinine these days but they used to reccommend it to cure charley horses or avoid painful muscle spasms at night or after strenuous exercise or dehydration.

One either took these terrible-tasting pills that would make your ears ring or a capful of tonic water at bedtime.

It might be worth talking to the doctor to see whether quinine is dangerous or if the cramps come from messed up electrolytes or poor circulation.

I had a recurring dream about being trapped in a cave, then finding out it was the inside of a dinosaur's mouth. When I was grown, with children of my own, I re-wrote the dream into a fantasy short story and it became my first professional fiction sale, "A Game of Djinn."

I haven't had the dream since then.

quantumcat - you mentioned quinine which reminded me that the only super freaky dream I really remember is when I went to Gabon and had to take anti-malarial medication (which has quinine in it).

In the dream, my mom was dating Chevy Chase who lived in a dorm room on the Trinity College (in Hartford, CT) campus - in one part he took her to a frat party. When I pointed out to her that he lived in a dorm room, she insisted it was for a movie role.

It was weird and I hope to never have another dream like it again.

Not meaning to avoid the subject....Dreams...

I know about leg cramps and my PA suggested several years ago that I take extra Potassium. I started and have reduced the amount of cramps from 3 a night to about 2 a month. It really does work.

Still off the subject - I eat a banana a day and that has cut the leg cramps down to nothing.

These 2 dreams were recurring.

After I was an adult & had been working for several years, I would dream of going home for lunch while in high school. In the dream, I was always trying to get back to school but had all kinds of difficulties getting there. I never dreamed of being late to work though.

Then there was the dream of being at my parents' home in Lewisburg wearing jeans, & it was time to go to church on Sunday evening. This was before we wore jeans to church, or at least before I did.

I had a strange one last week & wrote a blog about it that day.

I've had one recurring dream for as long as I can remember. I'm always standing on the ground watching a plane crash. Several times the plane crashes around my house and once I dreamed I was leaving the Home Depot and watch one crash.

I was told by someone it has something to do with my spirituallality and when I dream of a plane crash I should try to recognize what is happening with myself spiritually. To my knowledge, nothing was happening spiritually the last time I had this dream.

I had a dream that my mom called In the early hours of the morning ,saying my dad had died. I immediately went to their house and found him sitting on their sofa laughing and doing ok .

Three mornings later I really did get a call from my mother saying come quickly something's wrong with your dad . when I got there he was lying on the floor beside their bed and was anything BUT OK . I try not to dwell on this dream for I remember The Scriptures, at Deuteronomy 18:10-12, state:

"There should not be found in you anyone who . . . employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events . . . For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah."

God's Word here associates divination (including the looking for omens, as in dreams) with spiritism, which involves the influence of wicked spirit forces. (Eph. 6:12) Because wicked spirits may occasionally cause dreams that correctly predict the future, God warned his people to shun the "dreamer of a dream" who would encourage false worship, even if "the sign or the portent does come true of which he spoke to you."--Deut. 13:1-3; compare Acts 16:16.

God also uses Dreams to warn his people. Look back to Joseph, and Jesus' step father. We must always employ wisdom of the Holy Spirit when interpreting dreams.

Genesis 37, Judges 7, Daniel 4: Matt. 2:13 Matt. 27:19 and on and on..

Although God did use dreams in the past to reveal prophetic events and give instructions while his written Word was being produced, he has no need to do that today for the Bible contains all the instructions from God that mankind needs at this time, and its prophecies concern events more than a thousand years into the future. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17) So we can be confident that our dreams are not indications from God of future events but essential functions of the brain for maintaining our mental well-being.

SO , If a person has a dream , such as I did , about the death of a family member or a friend, it is perhaps because he has been concerned about this person. That the person may have died on precisely the night of the dream does not in itself prove that the dream was prophetic. For every dream of this type that appears to become a reality, there are hundreds that do not.

Natural dreams may be stimulated by certain thoughts or emotions, sensations or daily activities (anxiety, one's physical condition, his occupation, and so forth). (Ec 5:3) These dreams are of no great significance. (Ps 73:20) A hungry person may dream of eating and a thirsty one of drinking, but they awake unsatisfied. And I know this to be a fact for many a time I dream of the desperate need to find a bathroom ,SOMEWHERE FAST ! and after entering it , find there is no commode in there !!. Or if there is , I simply do not get relief and have to go find another VERY SOON ! Only to awaken and find if I don't go to that REAL bathroom, immediately , I may find I don't need to go after all ! HAHAHAH

I have a lot of hilarious dreams ,such as this one , and in fact have contemplated writing humorous short stories based on them LOL.
