Help from you weather prophetsPosted Monday, August 10, 2009, at 2:21 PM
My wife noticed Sunday afternoon the squirrels in our yard have been busy the past few days burying nuts, especially in flower beds.
Does this mean anything to any of you weather phophets out there? I used to ask such questions in late summer of the oldtimers until one day it occurred to me, heck, I'm an oldtimer now, and this oldtimer can only come up with thrifty squirrels as a possible answer. My wife has another name for them I won't mention here. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

My grandfather used to tell me that when Katobi Worms (forgive the spelling)have a thick coat of hair, we are in store for a harsh winter. I've also heard him say that when hornets build their nests farther off the ground, this is a sure sign of a coming harsh winter.
lots of squirrels in the yard means i'll be eating some squirrel this winter.
