Our sports inductees were musicians????Posted Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 4:04 PM
Please read this carefully before questioning my sanity. Sanity may be an issue here, but in these cases perhaps it should go to a couple of band directors, one here and one in Louisiana.
Charle Coffey of Shelbyville and former Shelbyville baseball coach John Stanford were among 10 people named today to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. You'll find lots of mention of Coffey's football accomplishments and Stanford's baseball and athletic director accomplihments in other places. Coffey took band for a brief time, thank goodness, at Shelbyville Central High School. He beat the daylights out of a bass drum in the band room. Jim Hewgley, band director at the time, wasn't about to let Charlie perform with the marching band or any other band function. Oh, but Stanford did perform with the marching band during his high school days in Louisiana. He played football there and at halftime, still in football gear, marched with the band while playng (?) the tuba. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

But but he wasn't in his dress code... The horror, how can you play without the proper dress code?
Evil Monkey, John comes from Cajun country. They fed anyone who objected to the gators before the second half got underway.
