Would you buy a used car from Kiffin?

Posted Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 3:21 PM

I didn't care for Lane Kiffin. He tslked waaay too much when he first arrived and had little to say when he departed after one season.

After watching him for a year, would you have bought a used car from Lane Kiffin?

Did he lie to any players he was recruiting to play football at Tennessee? Would you blame them for changing their commitment?

UT Athletic Director Mike Hamilton is faced with having to do a good job of finding a new football coach in a hurry.

Will the next head football coach be faced with more than assembling a good staff of assistant coaches and trying to keep a good class Kiffin and crew had recruited?

One thing bothers me and I've neither heard nor read anything on the matter. After the recent negative happings in Tennessee athletics, would the NCAA be considering lack of institutional control?

Wow! That's less than Kiffin said at his so-called news conference Cornelia-Marie. Good job

I loved this -- there's an AP story about a clothing store in Knoxville that sold a lot of "It's Time" Kiffin T-shirts. One of the store's employees has just returned from a mission trip to Haiti and was deeply moved by the news about the tragic earthquake there.

So, the store is encouraging fans, not to throw away or destroy the Kiffin shirts, but to return them to the store, which will bundle them up and send them with relief packages to Haiti. And the store is offering a 20 percent discount on new purchases for anyone who does so.

A great way to take a negative and use it for something positive!

altho i pull for ut most of the time, i am not a rabid fan. however, i think this whole story reeks of justice of the what goes around comes around variety.

where was ut's loyalty to johnny majors, or phil fulmer? for that matter, how about fulmer's loyalty to majors? looks like most everyone got what they deserved there.

and kiffin struck me as trouble waiting to happen. classless, and seemingly with no principles, how long would it have been before he embarrassed the university? but now that he has made his way to california penal, with who knows how many penalties hanging over their heads, his no class act ought to fit right in. and he will probably get just what he deserves. even pete "the cheat" carroll can expect to get his just deserts in seattle. quite a shuffling of bozos, wouldnt you say?

While it is a challenge, I believe Kiffin was going to be trouble for us. Now he is USC's problem.

I never understood why he was so highly acclaimed, When he came to UT it was the first time I heard his name so I missed something.

UT did'nt lose anything that was worth keeping anyway. I agree with stevemills, he's USC's problem to deal with now. GO VOLS!!!

There are several sources that Phil is being thought about to be asked back. Cutcliff is also being considered.

Is Randy Sanders available?

Needless to say that he parlayed his way from an NFL coach w/ a lot of sympathy from others, when he was picked to go to UT. He is now seen for what Al Davis said he was; a "man" that will say or do anything for him to advance.

He has pushed the lines of the NCAA rules as soon he got to Knoxville and was spotted at the High School Senior game, w/ his staff making calls to the kids. That is not legit. Just curious if that will fall on UT or USC shoulders.

cbssportsline.com has the story. Chris Low also has a blog regarding it on ESPN.com

"If there were a stock car race between all the frauds, egomaniacs and two-faced weasels I've ever covered, Lane Kiffin would have the pole position all to himself. . . .

"Kiffin is a used car salesman with a whistle. Wait, that's not fair to used car salesmen."

I don't know that there is a defense for his actions, but has anyone tried to defend him? I am curious what angle they would take.

This just in: Mike Leach, the recently fired Texas Tech coach has turned down the head coaching position at UT. His reason for declinging was that the electric closets at UT were too big for him to properly coach the players :-

The Vols will have the last laugh. Kiffin is a fake, his news conference at USC proved he had an ego the size of two of your left tackles. You will have the last laugh when USC is put on probation with limited scholorships and no bowl appearances. The Reggie Bush deal among others will get your revenge. He may be history for a while. Now you guys gotta leave Will M. alone, that would devestate UTx. He is our coach in waiting. UTn. should go after the Pirate, look what he did at Tech with recruits that some would call left overs that A&M & OU & TX. did not want. The guy is an offensive genius and with your recruiting expertise, there is no bounds to what he could do with a few 5A recruits.

Good luck and HOOK'em
