Strange Thefts

Posted Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 3:21 PM

What is the strangest thing you have ever had stolen from you or heard of being stolen from someone else?

I recall one night, and A snowy night at that, Shelbyville and Bedford County had an entire rail fence taken apart and removed from in front of a home, an airplane stolen by a thief who also left one he had taken from some other airfield, in Illinois as I recall, and to finish off the night someone stole the commode from the women's rest room at a Madison Street service station.

I managed a large children's store several years ago, and one day I realized that someone was stealing toilet tissue from the women's restroom. I thought at first that I had to be imagining what was surely not happening. I just knew that it had to be a customer, but when I realized that it was happening far too often, I began to watch employees. I never caught anyone but other things would go missing including money. Stealing toilet tissue was a first in all my years of retail management.
