When you vote in presidential elections do you ever consider who the first lady will be if a given candidate is elected?
Should that be a consideration since she will be representing America many times while her husband holds office? Just a thought. All I ask of her is that she be proud of the USA.
It absolutely says a lot about the candidate. I like several of the candidates for different reasons. However, when it comes to weighing what I am looking for, I tend to side with the one who holds the same or similar moral values I do. I think it is good for the office [ in this case ] of the President and the First Lady. It reflects on our country and what it was based on, as well.
Yes the spouse is a factor in who we elect, even if just a bit. Who they chose to live their life with says a lot about the character of the candidate and the honesty of the claims they make. Does the spouse emulate the values the candidate speaks of, do they show a good family image, are they kind and respectable? If the spouse is of questionable respectability , or one who does not compliment what the candidate says, but instead is a contradiction to what the candidate claims then would I seriously question the validity of what the candidate claims.
