This cutie is a male Jack Russell Terrier. We think that he is approx. 1 year old. He is very active, which made it difficult to get his picture. He was brought in as a stray.

Our adoption process is very easy!! The fee for adopting an animal is $65 that includes a $50 refund after the animal is spayed or neutered. Our facility contains an Adoption Room that will allow you and your family to spend quality time to ensure the right pet for you! All animals must leave with a current Rabies Vaccination. The current cost for this is $13.

Come Visit Us!

The shelter is now staffed during the day for viewing of animals and for dropping off animals. Give us a call to schedule a time to come in.

Animal control is a joke!!! I have neighbors that have 3 pit bulls and one of them killed our 3 month old jack russell, that we paid $150 for and $100 at the vet, trying to keep him alive, right on my back porch in front of my children ( I have 5)! I had called animal control a week before this happened because the dogs were coming in my yard and of course nothing was done! I have called the sheriff, mayor, comissioner, and of course ANIMAL CONTROL and I can not get anything done with these horrible dogs!! My daughter has seen 2 more just roaming the neighborhood as they please! I am scared to let my children go outside to play and that is just not fair!! Someone needs to be changing the laws!!

I thought the city had that new Dangerous dog law..and no animal was suppose to run loose?

The city DOES have new laws. They can be seen at:

jssg1975-

The animals listed are pets at Bedford County Animal Control, and they are in NO way associated with Shelbyville Animal Control.

Do you live in the city or county? When your dog was attacked did you file a report with either the city police or the sheriff's dept.?

The sheriff cannot handle complaints within the city or county on animal control. If it's in the city and you have called Shelbyville Animal Control at 931-684-6552 and had no response, call Ed Craig, the city manager.

If it is in the county, you need to call Michael Gregory at Bedford County Animal control at: 931-685-1130

cherylrichardson-

I live in Unionville and Michael Gregory is who I called along with the sheriff who made a report and Michael issued a warning to my neighbors. Thanks for the link to the new laws, but sounds to me like something more should have been done because these(there were 2 that came in my yard)are definitely DANGEROUS DOGS!!

how cute.. hope he gets adopted by someone nice for a lifetime. And neutering is a big plus.

Many kisses to him.

I just called animal control because of a pit bull that has been roming in our yard and i have 3 small children that cant go out to play for fear of being eaten. They came by and asked about the pit bull and got in his truck and left without so muc as to look where i told him where the dog was! that makes me mad and sad for my children that cant play outside!
