Happy "Tails" PicturesPosted Friday, December 7, 2007, at 8:23 AM
Thanks to commenter, Mary, I have a great idea for a post today. She shared that she just adopted a dachshund mix dog for her family and was very excited. If any of you have adopted a shelter pet, dog or cat (and it doesn't have to be recently), please e-mail me your Happy "Tails". It doesn't matter what shelter you got them at. Please feel free to share your pictures and stories, and I'll share them here. Just use the e-mail address provided in the sidebar. I can't wait to read your stories!
I'll start. Back in September, when my elderly chihuahua passed away, my house seemed SO empty. Even though I had three other dogs, we were all mourning. As you guys know, I post "Pets of the Week" for Shelbyville-Bedford County Humane Association and Bedford County Animal Control every week, and I also post all pictures on SBCHA's Petfinder.com page. Over the years, I've seen literally hundreds of pictures. One Monday, Michael Gregory sent me some pictures to post for pet of the week. It was a little dachshund/chihuahua mix named Digger. For some reason, his picture just spoke to me. I quickly contacted Michael and made arrangements to meet Digger. Casey and I quickly fell in love with him, and he came home with us the following weekend. We renamed him Shingo, since we are both HUGE fans of t.v.'s Ninja Warrior. Shingo quickly made friends with all my other pets and fit right in. He's still a puppy, so it's been a bit of a challenge now and then, but he's learning. I've taken him on his very first walks the past couple of weeks, and he and I both love it! I'm so happy that he came to live with us!

I hope we see a lot of pictures Cheryl. The news gets to be so depressing that some friendly faces will be good for the soul.
Of our 7 current pets 4 found us, one was born to us, one adopted with our house and one was given to our daughter. We don't seem to have to go the shelter, yet.
I'm glad you like the idea Steve!! Send your pictures in, and I'll post them! Wait--I'll post a picture of your new "found" dog too!
Sent in my pictures!
