FDA Indicts Seven Associated With Last Year's Pet Food Recall

Posted Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at 10:26 AM

On February 6th, the FDA indicted seven, which included a US based company, its CEO and its president associated with last year's pet food recall. The jist of the charges is that these individuals knowingly imported contaminated products to manufacture pet food.

"...for roles the parties played in a scheme to import products purported to be wheat gluten into the U.S. that were contaminated with melamine. These products were used to make pet food."

Thanks,again,darrick.

As you can tell, this issue is one of my hot buttons.

I get very,VERY tempted to demand that these folks get to earn their good time by replacing current scientific models in Draize tests or vivisection.

After all, some of these perps could pass for human.

AGAIN, SPEECHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.

I get a little tired of seeing the sick and old getting tainted and ineffective medicines.

I get weary of seeing dangerous toys or children's clothes showing up AGAIN.

I despise seeing our environment and our agricultural future trashed to line someone's pockets.

I hate hearing about our banned products going to third world countries -or to our armed forces!

It's SIN that our animals are given "food" that not only fails to nourish but causes injury and death.

We learn how people think of those around them by how they treat the weakest.

"As ye have done unto the least of these, even so have ye done unto me."

The strong need to make them tow the line because they'd do no better to the rest of us if they thought they could get away with it.

The fact that they put us in the position of having provided these abominations to those we care about makes it even worse.

We need to respond in such a way that nothing they gain from such abuse would be worth the consequences they earn-and receive.

Note how often the victims of such behavior are children, animals, the poor and the elderly.

I haven't heard of a lot of scams or recalls directed at humans who have a lot of influence or power.

Instead, some of the unethical practices that hurt our most vulnerable populations are as perennial as flu season.

These careless and criminal businesses must think that those they harm are unable to fight back or too unimportant to have their welfare count more than a fat profit.

(They'd be angry enough if their well-being was so dismissed.)

Let's hope that a powerful retaliation will remove the people who have already violated our trust and deter anyone vile or stupid enough to make the same mistakes.

If only the FDA indicted all those pharmaceutical companies who keep the PEOPLE sick... After all, they make profits by selling drugs. They wouldn't want to stop selling them otherwise there would be no profit. So, don't produce a cure, heaven forbid. There's no money in that!!

As for the sickening information about this petfood, it is saddening... Animals are beautiful and should be treated humanely. Knowingly poisoning them, and making a profit should shut the company/those responsible down FOREVER!

Pets are so mistreated in every way, form and fashion! I see it every day. It's a shame that others would treat something so defenseless so cruel, knowingly. Those people should be treated the same way for their punishment.

It makes me happy that there is some sort of criminal case against the people who let contaminated pet food get sold. Of course, it makes me sad that it happened in the first place...
