New Arrivals!

Posted Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 8:59 AM

Most of yesterday and today have been a blur. Right after lunch Wednesday, Casey and I received a call from a friend. It seems that 3 little kittens came to their loading dock, on an 18 wheeler from Montgomery, Alabama. They needed somewhere for them to go FAST, before Rutherford County Animal Control picked them up. They had already told the folks that they would take them back and just put them down. Casey and I told them we'd take them....of course!!! We went by and got them after work. They were tiny, tiny, tiny!! We, along with my friend, Kim, took them to the vet's and had them checked out. They were deemed about a week old and healthy. Right now, we're bottle feeding them about every 3 hours, and the puppies are bathing them for us!! Too cute! I, however, look like the walking dead today from the schedule. My other coworker, Jen (she works nights) is kitty sitting and feeding during the day for us. We'll pick them up, after we get off from work. There are 2 girls and 1 boy.

Shingo has really started to "mother" them, even though he is a boy. He won't let any of the others get near them, and he bathes them.

Girl #1. Solid black.

Girl #2. Black on her back, and tabby everywhere else. Look at Shingo taking part!!

The boy, which I think we are going to keep. Since his head looks like it's been frosted blonde, we've named him Gordon Ramsay Richardson.

AFlynn~ You shouldn't have to. I embedded the pics. I can see them. Maybe photobucket was down for a while.

Maybe there's a mama cat among all the surplus felines who could help wet nurse and teach them how to be cats.

We've been able to put babies onto critters that have just weaned their own young or who had litters that could accommodate some extra mess-mates.

Even if they couldn't get all their nutrition that way,it was a help.

Too often, there wouldn't be a surrogate mom when we needed one-not even boy dogs or co-workers!

We wound up smuggling babies and paraphenalia to work/school.

You have my sympathies.

If you and Casey need another helper for your kittens, just holler.

Those are very beautiful and fortunate babies.

That is how we got sooo attached to Cooper and I guess him to us, we had to nurse him.
