Fresh startPosted Friday, August 24, 2007, at 12:37 PM
It all starts over tonight.
Whether you're Smrynra, Maryville or Shelbyville, everybody is 0-0. I learned a long time ago after asking a girlfriend about guys she dated before me that the past is the past. It's typically better to just not bring it up. You hear even the most successful programs and teams talk all the time about how a championship season the year before doesn't get you anything but a target on your chest in present time. The Eagles head out for their Week Zero matchup against Coffee County in search of some redemption of last year's 41-point thumping. If Central is able to completely turn the tables on the Red Raiders, it will be much tougher to put 60+ points on the board. The TSSAA installed rules changes in the offseason in attempt to keep teams from being embarrassed. A continuous clock will roll once a team has a 35-point advantage in the second half. The clock keeps ticking in the fourth quarter even if the margin becomes less than 35 points. Time still stops at the end of the third quarter as well as for timeouts, scores, injuries and safety purposes. All the more reason to hope for big, big win...you'll get home in time for SportsCenter. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

We thought maybe they may cancel tonights game due to the heat but I guess not, we haven't heard anything about it yet..I know they canceled some games last night from the middle schools because of the heat..I didn't understand why they just didn't push the time back and hour or so..but then again they didn't ask my opinion (not that they really should have) :>)
