What a week

This has to be my favorite time of the year. And, for any sports fan, like my friend Mike Moore said, "How can it not be everyone's?"

All across baseball divisional rivals are going to head to head with postseason plans pending. On Saturday, the MLB rosters expand to 40 and hundreds of guys who have been busting their tails and riding buses all year in the minors will get a cup of coffee.

Week One for high school football kicks off tonight. Although several squads, including Shelbyville Central, opened up last week, nearly every other school in the state will strap up and finally get to hit someone else.

Even though I feel bad for the guys being cut from the NFL this week, it is a relief to see preseason ball come to a close. Hopefully, for those guys being sliced, they will land on their feet and choose another career wisely.

I'm also anxious to see how my fantasy football drafts pan out. I had one on Monday and have another in my own league coming on Labor Day. Not to mention it's the stretch run in baseball.

Last, but certainly not least, college football finds its stride on Saturday. I absolutely cannot wait. I've been laughing all week listening to bitter old "experts" talk of how the Vols don't have a chance against Cal. Did anybody notice UT totally dominated last year? Maybe Berkeley is much more intimidating that I am thinking. We'll see.

Well the SCHS game didn't go well last night but our boys played well. These boys have a lot of heart and kept on trying.

We played Warren County, I don't think we have ever played them before (or not that I ever remember anyway.) It's a BIG school (could have put SCHS in one corner of their High School)..Football field wasn't even at the High School it was at the Middle School. (but it was a super nice field)

Do you know why we even played them? It was my understanding that they aren't even in our District?
