Even though I love SCHS Eagle Football I am not surprised they aren't in the top anything.

When I am sitting at the games sometimes I wonder what they are even thinking because it sure don't seem like they are thinking about winning the football game.

I guess even though we may not be the best football team around I will continue to sit in the stands and cheer them on.

Basketball season is very near :>)

And it will be payback time

When I went to SCHS in the early 90s, we use to have a very good football team but it seems like when White Taylor took over, it when downhill. Its sad though . . . I think they could be better than that.

Since I live in Wartrace, I go and watch Cascade play and they have that winning formula now and so far this season they are undefeated and a great team to watch. I look forward to when they play Jo Bryns.

Jo Byrns I mean . . .

Jaxspike was right in saying that the program had really gone downhill. Unfortunately it takes a long time to climb back up that hill but the Eagles are making steady progress. Diana, I assure you that the coaches and players that I know are thinking of nothing other than winning. Anyone who has watched them the last few years can definitely see a huge improvement-but good grief, it takes time to rebuild a program. If not for a couple of plays, they would also have wins against Coffee County and Tullahoma, both games of which were exciting to watch. Even so, they still have a good chance at making the playoffs.

The community needs to be positive and get behind this team and their coaches who are steadily fighting an uphill battle and making great strides - GO EAGLES!!

SCHS has a couple of things going against them. One, the program has been down, but it is being rebuilt and shows improvement over last year. The other thing is that SCHS plays some of the best teams in the state year in and year out. Last year we played 6 teams that were ranked in the top 10 in 4A. This year, there are three teams in the top 10 on our schedule.

Cascade is a very fine 1A football team, and they deserve to be commended, but to compare them with Shelbyville is a bit of a stretch. There is a big difference in the caliber of play between 1A and 4A. Also, Shelbyville plays three 5A schools (Coffee County, Warren County and Franklin County). I'm not saying Shelbyville won't ever be competitive because I think we will. It will just take a little time to build the program to where it needs to be. The current coaching staff has implemented a strenuous off season program and is getting young men interested in playing football as witnessed by the increased numbers of players over the last couple of years.

Just give them time.

Without a doubt the Eagles Football team is better than it was last year.
