Vols go up the polls

In light of both North Carolina and UCLA going down on Saturday, Tennessee moved up a few more spots in the latest men's basketball polls.

The Vols are now No. 3 in AP and No. 5 in the ESPN/USA Today poll. Undefeated Memphis and Kansas take the top two spots, respectively.

The Southeastern Conference schedule is always a roller-coaster, but if the Vols can continue riding high, college roundball fans could be in for a treat. Circle Feb. 23 on your calender. UT heads cross-state to Memphis for a potential showdown of an undefeated Tiger squad and the SEC's best team.

That is great news! I am a huge Pearl supporter. Matter of fact, I have a picture of Pearl, along with me and my wife hanging on the wall in our "Vol" room... He is a real down-to-earth guy and will take time to speak to any Vol fan. I think he is the best thing that has happened at Tennessee since Pat Summit became coach. I only wish I still had the same passion for the football team. Hopefully Clawson will bring some excitement back to the Grid iron and give us Vol fans something to cheer for in the Fall again.

I think we must of jinxed them, Danny. Looks like it will be a short-lived stay at the number 3 spot after last night. This will not be the last upset for the "Blue Mist" this year. They have a lot of talent and those fans calling for Billy Gillispie's head just two weeks ago will realize what a great hire that was by the end of the season!

For all those UT fans that made fun of Vanderbilt losing to UK in double overtime . . . how is that humble pie tasting?

I'm not sure who your referring to, but I knew Kentucky would turn things around and never said anything about the Vandy loss. Perhaps you were reading another publication when you saw these remarks?
